Stadium Discussion

Sure. I'm honestly not hung up on anything like most people are. ALL I want is for public transportation to be able to get me there within an hour. I've sad many times that my ideal situation would be for the team to announce that they have secured a location, begun construction and that we will play at RBA until it is finished.
Yeah if they play in RBA I don't drive so I won't be able to go to games so that would absolutely suck.

Long Island is a no go. Very difficult to get anywhere on Long Island once you get past Flushing Meadows.

I don't know where you live, but I don't drive either. It takes me 48 minutes to get to YS from Brooklyn and 55 minutes to get to RBA via public transit.

I live in Manhattan 20 min for YS, but the path is to much of a pain in the ass and I don't go to jersey unless it's for work. So for me RBA and NJ is a absolute no go.

We have two "New York" teams in the Meadowlands and people *gasp* make the trip from NYC on a regular, weekly basis. My issue with not having a stadium in the 5 boroughs is thats how they have billed the team. NYCFC not NYFC.

I never go to met life nor will I ever but I'm not going to get started on that. You are correct this NY C FC not having this team in the city is a failure for EVERYONE involved.

No offense man, but that is pretty short-sighted reasoning. So anything outside of a 20 minute subway ride is a pain in the ass?

Anything outside the five borough isn't good for a stadium for this team. I'm a nets fan I go to BK for nets games, no problem, cause is accessible. You can drive there but you don't need to, you can take LIRR or the Subway there. That is what the team is looking for.

Getting to RBA is not ideal and honestly, what made this team so attractive to me was that it would be playing in NYC, on a subway line. Really a shame they were unable to figure something out before Bloomberg left office, DeBlasio seems pretty against subsidizing any athletic facilities. I've got a bad feeling this situation will get worse over the next few years, especially if they can't at least figure out a permanent home.

Supposedly, MLS worked behind the scenes to kill the Cosmos Stadium because NYC is not going to build a SSS for both them and NYCFC. I think that makes sense.

Any SSS has to be within NYC limits... playing outside for a season in order to complete a stadium might be ok. Anything less would defeat the purpose of the team. Besides, sponsors like ESPN will be pissed because part of the new allure of MLS is having a team in the NY market after RBNY failed.

Even if Red Bull leaves MLS, a MLS team will play in Red Bull Arena because it's too good a venue to go unused -- even if the 2nd NY-area based team was granted to Cosmos ownership (or someone else).

what gives you the confidence?
I am hoping the FO gets the heads out the asses and realize that they will just have to pay for the stuff they want in this city. They can afford it. There are 3 place in the city that has the room that the city and state are desperate to sell biggest of them Pier 40. It's $250 million to get the rights to it.
