Mark needs to worry about hitting a ball to left field and not getting hurt like he does every single season. Garrett Jones is somebody I've never heard of and Ryan has a worse batting average than one handed pitcher Jim Abbott. The only players on that team that can say anything are Ellsbury and Gardner.

Yeah seriously Mark Teixeira is worried about the field conditions? He never sees it anyway... pick up that paycheck and shut up Mark. They're changing the way they field the ball? You've never actually fielded a ball at Yankee Stadium you're not changing anything ass hole. Whatever its Deblasios fault anyway...

Yankee fan here... Tex is just making excuses ahead of time. If the field is a problem, it'll be a problem for both the away and home team. Unless the wear-and-tear is more than expected this will be a non-issue.

As for a SSS, people have to get behind any stadium site as long as it is located within the boroughs. As we all see, getting land in NYC is very difficult. You can't be too choosy because there are not that many realistic options. So when a SSS location is eventually announced consider that it might be an all-or-nothing situation.

I came to NYCFC pretty late in the game. After the original plan fell through. What/where was the initial plan? I know it was up by YS, but that's about it.

I think the very first plan was Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (Queens) close to where the US Open (tennis) tournament / Mets play -- the stadium was going to be literally over the Pool of Industry (man made body of water that was not being used and was closed off).

Then the next plan was within blocks of Yankee stadium to include some land sometimes used for parking but not very effective / owner was defaulting on payments .... or something along those lines.

I think people don't seem to understand the deal was going through De Blasio didnt kill it, he might not have liked it but he didn't kill it. The team walked away when the owner of the elevator company started asking for more money at the very last minute. That's the dude who killed the deal. It was a deal with private companies, de Blasio couldn't kill it even if he wanted to and all the team would have to do to get the Bronx deal through is pay them more money and tell them to shut up.

There are a couple of Parking Garages a few blocks down the street from Yankee Stadium that are bleeding money. The plan was to buy these garages (along with a neighboring factory) and build the stadium there after tearing down all three. It depends on what story you want to believe as to why the deal fell through.

Some say the City is balking because NYCFC wants all sorts of tax breaks, etc for the new stadium. Some say the factory owner found out who owns NYCFC and is holding out for more $$$. Who knows?

I still feel too many people are getting all wrapped up in the DeBlasio angle. The man is nothing more than you're typical politician.......IOW he has his price. Just look up the history of the Barclays Center. And if IIRC, I'm sure I read an article somewhere about a lot of people on the hook for those bonds are huge DeBlasio backers, so they want out of those garages asap. Feel free to straighten me out if I'm wrong on that.

IMHO the Bronx site is still going to be where our SSS is going to be located. It's just a matter of time before all parties work out a deal where everyone is happy.

Please someone promise me that Red Bull Arena is ruled out as an option; while RBA is a fantastic stadium to watch a soccer match, I don't want this team based in New Jersey. I would prefer a stadium in the Bronx, but would take Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn or even Westchester over New Jersey. I realize that there are probably 10,000 different views on this subject.
Nobody can guarantee anything. I would hope the team realizes that moving to NJ would be a PR disaster, and a refutation of repeated promises, but they've reneged on those types of things before (Kit, Lampard). This would be even worse than those combined and hopefully they realize that. As to non-NYC but still NY state sites, opinion is slightly less negative. I'm with you and could accept very close by in Westchester or (IMO) Nassau but a lot of folks would find that completely intolerable. As you stated, there are 10k opinions on it.

Like I said the deal was done and the team walked away at the last minute, the owner of the elevator company is SUPER old and wants is payday for his part of the site. I hate to point this out but we could "wait out" that guys time on this world the owners kids have other Businesses and they will absolutely sell to avoid the inheritance tax that would come with that place.

Just trying to understand... you think the club decided it is better to play at Yankee Stadium for several years and try to wait out until (most of) the land for the new SSS is sold (e.g., auctioned off)?

The Reason the team walked away as it was reported, is cause he realized who the teams owners are and stared asking for "unreasonable" amounts of money for the that land. It looks like the old CEO of the team got but hurt and walked away and that news got "leaked".

The only thing the team could do is ask the mayor office to use eminent domain and then sell it to NYCFC, which would never happen.

Interesting and very helpful. I understand the club's position better now; I missed the media reports around that time. I had thought that a number of local Bronx politicians were opposing the plans and that was a contributing factor as well (as was the case for Corona Park) but it's nice to know the political hurdles were cleared. This gives me much more confidence that NYCFC can remain a Bronx-based team if the owners of the elevator company go back to accepting a reasonable offer. Still, it's wise for club ownership to explore other options.

Of all the plans, the Flushing Meadows plan was the best. It covered a shitty pool of water that no one uses, would create jobs, and the 7 train and LIRR stop right there. They have to figure out how to make this work again. Fucking locals. I can't stand people that have to shit on things just because they can.

It's like my town on LI. The LIRR station doesn't have enough parking, even though there are 7 lots. You can't park anywhere on the streets around the station because the folks living there don't want cars on the street, meanwhile they all have driveways and these folks don't commute everyday to work. There was a plan to build a low parking garage and these fuckers killed that too. So now everyone that commute after 7:45 has to get stressed out trying to get to the station. These are people who do this because they feel entitled to shit, and don't want their perfect lives fucked with, even if it means making other peoples lives miserable. Sorry for the rant. Over.

Some people have been talking about going in together with Cosmos on their Elmont Crossing site. According to them, they run LIRR direct on race days and it's 30 minutes from Brooklyn. What do people think about that?

I think it makes more sense than I can even convey. But I believe I am in a distinct minority. Plus the Cosmos have been getting held up by NYS, who has approval over that plan, and it hasn't moved forward in months and they're getting antsy and talking about starting to look for alternatives.

NY Cosmos talked about this a very long time ago and seemingly there has been no movement. To me, this is awful sign that it will not get done. Again, not enough political support.

Casino developers are eyeing the same plot and so extra competition is bad news as well. Read here:

You want to share a stadium with the Cosmos out in Long Island? That isn't going to happen, NYC need a stadium near Subway not just LIRR all the way out Elmont? That is as bad as RBA.
Sure. I'm honestly not hung up on anything like most people are. ALL I want is for public transportation to be able to get me there within an hour. I've sad many times that my ideal situation would be for the team to announce that they have secured a location, begun construction and that we will play at RBA until it is finished.
