I want to be clear that I don't think an announcement is imminent, but I don't think it will be end of next year.
Again, I would assume that they would make an announcement right before documents start to go public. So right before the Public Scoping Meeting would be announced. I'm not saying this is what's going to happen, but I don't see why that can't happen by the beginning of the next season. I think that's feasible. I would imagine Maddd and NYCFC already have a lot of other work done behind the scenes in terms of having the framework of the necessary documentation put together.
Another disclaimer that I don't know any of that, just assuming that that is the case.
To be clear, by official announcement, I don't mean that the club is moving forward on plans and this is how they are doing that, but an actual announcement with renders, plans, a breaking ground estimated date and a finish by date. essentially, that it's all done, signed, and approved.... just have to go through the process now. anything less than that doesn't feel good enough to me. been hurt too many times!

I think this is right, if a tad optimistic in terms of timeline. There are not only community and political and financial issues to resolve, but don't forget various engineering and transportation infrastructure issues. You've got the deegan there, with that exit ramp (that's a state thruway), you've got metro-north, the subway, the sewers, etc. And everything's political.
I owe you a bit of an apology K Kjbert as I didn't realize when I responded above, that I had actually tweeted out that after the ULI publishes their report, a proposal would need to go to City Planning. I added another reply to that tweet to clarify that they don't, in fact, have to wait for that report to be published.
Yep. I just think they have had plenty of time to think through the known obstacles. Perhaps I'm allowing my optimism to take over a bit there, as well as maybe putting a bit too much trust into Maddd (who I honestly don't know a whole ton of, in regards to operational efficiencies) and CFG/NYCFC (where maybe I should know better).
Would the majority of our fans be happy if the club announced they were beginning an environmental report on that piece of land? I would. It would stem the hemorrhaging in my eyes.

no, everyone else announces stadium plans and they have their shovels ready to go. not "hey everyone we are just starting a process that may or may not work out for a stadium"
So your preference is we hear absolutely nothing until they start digging the foundation?
i already been reading rumors and news like today yesterday etc. even if nycfc announced about yesterdays event we are still in same position: no stadium.
the announcement from nycfc has to be that its been agreed and we are ready to go. though probably happening in 2023/2024.
heck even when FO people pass by or people banter within supporters group everyone says: "announce stadium" not " announce we are talking with leaders and community boards about the chance to build a stadium"
that is MY preference.. or at least until they know everything is done and they have a date schedule for breaking ground. Otherwise, it's still technically all up in the air. I don't think supporters really want to get their hopes up again without a guaranteed stadium plan.
We’ll see how it plays out, but note that the ULURP approval is a public process designed to incorporate input from the neighborhood constituents and all levels of city government. It starts with the developer’s comprehensive plan and then runs that plan, publicly, through the wringer.
The point is, the whole plan—maps, infrastructure, renderings, the whole kit and caboodle—will be public at the start of the ULURP approval process, whether or not the team pulls out a podium to announce it.

It’s oretty obvious they have people out there leaking things here and there. I’m sick of it. Say you’re involved at GAL but there’s a lot of work to do still.

This is why I think it’s imporrent that they say something. We’re going to see the plans all laid out anyway. A good PR team would get in front of it and use it to their advantage
I am sure a Phase I is complete. Depending on land ownership, the Phase II (or parts of it) could be complete as well. The issue with the environmental aspect of development would be 1) if they find any contamination (which is likely in any M district), and 2) the requirements set forth by DEP (or DEC) after review of initial EAS submissions.
As far as I know, they’re still making elevator parts in the building. And that was as of a few months ago.
Yes, according to available public documents they still own the site as of this morning.
Hard to get excited about this. This is the kind of meeting that should have happened years ago. It seems more exploratory than progress. Wtf have we been doing? Now we're looking for community feedback? What happens if it's a no and the powers that be are scared to challenge that? If the plan was to bring a team to a boro and build a stadium, shouldn't this have been done already? So what are they really saying, they want to build a stadium in the Bronx? No f'n duh. This is bullshit propaganda. That's why it was quiet. This isn't news. Funny my rep finally left me a message today to talk about my "opt-out form" lol.
Remember, the team and developers didn’t have anything to do with this. This was the Community Board’s own initiative, in light of the rumored stadium development, to start thinking about community priorities in neighborhood planning and negotiation around the stadium proposal should the developers actually put something forward.
