So with September quickly approaching do we know when know when the Bronx community board plans to reconvene? Also how sure are we that they’ll even pick back off where they left off in June?
The next general board meeting will be September 28th. There should be a housing and land use meeting earlier in the month that maybe will shed some light.

I don’t think necessarily that they’ll pick back up with a vote immediately in September. I noted on the Blue Balls pod this week that while Sept is the earliest they could vote on it, the more realistic earliest timeframe I could see is a Sept presentation on updated terms followed by an October vote.

That said, I connected with EDC last week and they mentioned that there had not been any conversations with the Yankees regarding any updated terms.

I wouldn't characterize "liberals" as anti-development. Although who knows what you mean by that word, it's a pretty broad, and loaded, word.

Liberals won’t like his policies. Nothing to do with development. He’ll be less progressive than Bloomberg

No conversations since then doesn’t sound too good to me

Couple more days now…let’s see if they pick back up where they left off or if it gets pushed to later
In the year. Has there been any recent contact between EDC and the Yankees SoupInNYC SoupInNYC?

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anything will happen this month.

I've been in contact with EDC, Nuveen, and the Yankees within the last week and all have confirmed there have not been any conversations revisiting the terms.

Will know more tomorrow if CB4 plans on discussing anything related to this at their upcoming board meeting, but they almost certainly won't be reviewing anything and even more certainly won't be voting on anything.

Not what I wanted to hear, but what I expected to hear- as always thanks for putting the work in

I don’t see anything happening until the new administration is settled in.

I attended last night's CB4 meeting and nothing was discussed at all.

Not that anything is on them at the moment, but I wasn't sure if they would revisit the discussion at the last meeting and discuss it at all, or if the district manager perhaps had some discussions with EDC or someone and wanted to share with the group (it's possible he has had those discussions and felt it wasn't necessary to share at this point).

It feels like we're at a crossroads with this club. The current stadium situation is untenable. I don't care if next year is split 2/3 YS and 1/3 CF. I feel like the energy around the club has been way down. A lot of this has to do with COVID, RBA, scheduling, but those aren't the only factors.

Curious to hear how people would respond: If you could get an NYCFC stadium at a place like Yonkers Raceway / Empire Casino by the start of the 2023 season vs. Indefinitely rotating between YS/CF/RBA, which way would you lean at this point?

I agree that momentum is off at the moment. It was slowly dropping before the pandemic, and that seems to have accelerated things.

Yankee Stadium is a big problem, and not just because it's a crappy place to watch soccer. Its size means that if attendance slips below a certain level, say 21,000 or so, it seems empty and the energy and game day atmosphere take a nose dive. That just exacerbates things.

The problem with taking a short term solution like Empire Casino is that we really need to be accessible by public transit. For me, Empire Casino would be great - I pass it on my way to Yankee Stadium. For most fans, they'd have an easier time taking the Path to Harrison.

Empire Casino tried getting a look before it was sold. The County was going to pony up money as wellp

There is not one thing that is easy about the local stadium project: politics, real estate, infrastructure, geography (those damn rivers) or transportation.

To think about NYCFC playing outside NYC, no matter how close, you almost have to imagine an alt history where the Metrostars/Red Bulls had rebranded as New Jersey, and the new local expansion team made its location brand simply New York, which was enough, because it wasn't New Jersey, and so never required a"city" location promise and they immediately announced a stadium in Yonkers, Mount Vernon or Belmont back in 2013-14. It would have opened by 2016 maybe.

It might have worked. I'm not sure. It solves a thousand problems but it also constrains and changes the actual and potential fan base. Not sure if it also requires different owners.
