Supporters Club Name?

Along with Philadelphia using "sons" there's an obvious joke people would make with any kind of "sons" nickname. Most of the double initial names are the worst they sound the most gimmicky of all. Its not really about finding a gimmick its more about identity. I actually like that logo above but once again there's not enough consensus over "natives." I don't see any name coming close to an 80% agreement at the moment. I did like my suggestions of "6th family" and "Notorious N.Y.C" (obviously stolen from Notorious B.I.G and yes I guess its double initials).

Something totally new and contemporary would be ideal. Look at underground music its not as commercial friendly but there's a place for it. The same can be said for a SC name like none ever used in professional sport.

Philadelphia "sons of ben" is I believe also a play on the term S.O.B. If not, then it's just a funny coincidence. I agree with Vinjay tho, I can't see an 80% agreement happening now, so I think the best way to go about it is to maybe pick 5 or 6 and slowly eliminate one at a time. If a better one emerges, we can have an "other" option.

Gotham City
Gotham Supporters
Gotham Group

Or any variation between those.

How about Soldiers or Brigade for a word that conveys hardcore fandom without hooliganism.

I think City Soldiers conveys that we are defending our city walls, a united front against the outside clubs. Also, alliteration!

Definitely want to avoid Citizens, which is clearly MCFC territory. Not that it is bad, but definitely wouldn't be unique NYC.

If we nix brigade because other MLS clubs use it, we would also have to nix Supporters because Seattle has the Emerald City Supporters. To me, I think the word that means "group" does not have to be unique, since it only has a limited number of synonyms. It is the rest of the name that really matters. So Gotham City Supporters/Army/Brigade would not bother me, since its the "Gotham" part that is really our identity.

Feel free to check the sticky thread at the top of this forum and vote as well.
I don't think any name will come close to a 50% vote right now. It seems to be getting pushed really bad on the Facebook page. I don't understand why personally as there's less than 200 people and only like 60 votes cast in the group.
The next season is no where near us. Even deciding a month before the season starts gives plenty of time to develop banners, shirts, etc. You have to understand the club is still in its infancy and many more supporters with varied opinions will join us. To force a name on them that less than a hundred people agreed upon is a bit ridiculous. You'll wind up with A LOT of supporter groups with different names and identities and chants and the whole thing will basically be an internal war of supporters. At least that's how I see it going wrong.
