Todd Dunivant Named New York City FC Sporting Director

I'd be okay with his return.
Some time in 2022 - can't remember when that year - I asked the question would you rather lock up Taty for his whole career or Magno for his? Magno had shown such skill and talent; I picked him over Taty. I still believe if the team had been built around his skillset instead of destroying his professional progression (with a system that didn't work and a coach who failed to develop him), he could have been a more powerful player than Taty. Clearly we'll never know. But I'm hopeful about his return.

Sure would be nice to hear from Dunivant to know if Talles is in their plans for the season or not.

honestly don't think he'd be back at the training facility if he was not in the plans at all. but who knows. stranger things have happened.

wouldn't be crazy if he had a monster year and became league MVP and helps us lift the cup? lol. yes i'm dreaming but sometimes dreams come true.

He’s posted since being named the new sporting director for NYCFC, including a post about being sporting director. But he hasn’t updated his profile.

This is basically what I’m thinking. Not sure he’s willing/able to do what Pascal would want from him. But maybe he’s matured.

I hope so as it will be fun to watch him play again but it's hard to imagine Magno tracking back with the consistency and intensity Pascal expects.

Pascal would play Tana at CB, Raul at LB, and KOT at LW before he tolerates a LW that won't play D.

Idk, Talles played best under Ronny Deila who also wanted everyone to play defense. Both Julian and Ojeda made great strides in their defensive effort under Pascal as well. One quote from Tayvon Gray, who also was in pascals doghouse for a stretch this season, really resonated was about Pascal is really good at pushing buttons to get the most of our players, so I am optimistic he can push the right ones for Talles.

It would be great if Pascal could get through to him. Magno is always fun to watch. It sounds inane, but Tallas, when he wants to be, is probably the most defensively capable winger in the history of the club. When he would get mad that he lost the ball and track back, he put in some strong tackles and almost always came out with the ball.

It's not his style, but I've always thought that with his ability to shield the ball, carry in traffic, pick out a pass, put in a tackle when he wants, and just sheer physical presence, Magno could be an incredible box-to-box 8 if he put his mind to it.
