What is everyone suggesting to be done here? Are we actually saying that accidents arent really accidents? People already are held accountable. If they kill someone and its an accident they are likely charged with manslaughter. If its a hit and run its a more serious offense. My friend accidentally killed someone on the road and spent years in jail for it, no extra fine would have made him feel worse than he already did about the situation. If you get seriously injured u have a serious law suit on your hands, if you want more recompense. Any human being could miss a stop sign and possibly injure someone because of it, does that mean they should be punished for the rest of their lives for a mistake? Im very sorry for the stories above (and this coming from someone whos father and sister were killed in a car accident), but at end of they day for the most part, they are just that... accidents.
