U.s. To Host 2016 Copa America

How the hell do the idiots running this tourney set it up so that the MetLife venue pass has 2 games with 4 teams and there's now a decent chance that 50% of those teams will be Ecuador. All due respect to Ecuadorians, but nobody but Ecuadorians wants to see 2 out of 2 games featuring Ecuador.* The first game at MetLife should have been from Group C or D to avoid this possibility. All the other venues had 3 game passes so it was harder to ensure no repeats, but for a pass with only 2 damn games this should never have been an issue. As long as Brazil and Peru don't tie it won't come to pass, but I'll be so damn annoyed if it does. I already was gifted one of the worst teams in the tournament in Haiti.

* Yes I know they're ranked fairly high. They're also the lowest ranked team in Pot 2 and nobody wants to see them twice given the options. And the point is there should have been no chance of a repeat of any team in 2 games.

Somewhere TabascoDiva is laughing as she's getting ready for tonight's game and thinking - Oh mgarbowski mgarbowski, I have much to teach you about the joys of watching Ecuadorians play!

And good for her and all Ecuadorians, in all seriousness. It's just so not what I'm hoping for.
Totally understand! And so does she. But when she sees you next she still may try to convert you. The night of the Brazil/Ecuador game she innocently asked me who I was rooting for! :D

Well just think how much you can resell your Brazil vs. Colombia tickets for...

I'm on will call so I need to go to the stadium to get the tickets, so I might as well watch the game.

But Colombia are going to pay the price for changing that many players.

Now which bar in NYC should I watch the USA game being played in Seattle ?

Jack Dempsey's on 33rd by Herald Square is the official AONYC bar -- it'll be a great atmosphere no doubt.

Field is nice. Longing for the day we have our own stadium

At the 94 World Cup at Giants Stadium, my dad and I had tickets for all three knockout stage games and we ended up watching Bulgaria play all three games. It's obviously different because it was the knockout stage, but we would have been shocked if someone would have told us we were going to watch Bulgaria play three games in a row in the round of 16, quarters and semis. They had never won a World Cup game and barely even qualified. We watched them beat Mexico and Jorge Campos on pens, then beat Klinsmaan and Germany and finally lose to Italy and Baggio. Sorry for the tangent, but your post made me think of my two weeks as a Bulgaria fan.

A glass-half-full person would talk about how they got to watch Mexico/Campos, Germany/Klinnsman, and Italy/Baggio. And didn't Bulgaria have Hristo S? Watching him play was amazing! Those are four of the greats from 94!

Tangent away!

Yes, but I was keeping with the theme! It was indeed an unforgettable couple of weeks.
