Yes, we had several shots on target, but the Guatemalan keeper was in the form of his life and made quite a few great saves.
This was probably the worst overall USMNT performance I've ever seen. I think giving up that first goal so early and easily completely destroyed what was already shaky confidence due to an unfamiliar lineup and so many players out of their natural position. The only hope now is that the team shakes it off for the home leg.
Does winning the home leg even guarantee that the USA will advance out of the group to the Hexagonal?
I think the USA only has 4 points from 3 matches which is good enough for 3rd place in the group. (Correct me if i'm wrong.) How many more group stage matches are there?
So we are unnecessarily freaking out about this stumble against Guatemala or is it truly time to sound the alarm? I did not see the game so I can't really judge how big of a dumpster fire we were.
Next game against Guatemala in Columbus should be the decider. Failure to win there and Klinsmann should fall on his own sword. Those results you posted earlier are indication of how far the USA has regressed since the 2014 WC.
Luckily i haven't purchased any tickets to watch the USA at the Copa America, another poor showing like the other day and I'm flying to Houston to watch Mexico play instead.
What I don't get with Bedoya, is it sounds like he is in fantastic form at Nantes. To be honest, I haven't watched any of those games, so I'm taking other people's word for it.
However, every time he's suited up for the USMNT, he's just a guy that's there. He doesn't really provide anything. And he had two fantastic opportunities on Friday night that he blew.
I just don't understand how he can play so many guys out of position. This isn't the old UMSNT teams where talent is lacking and you need to get creative to get the most talented guys all on the same field.
We have the talent, play the guys at their natural positions. He played a RB at CB, so he could play a DM at RB, so he could play a RB at RM, so he could play a CAM at DM, so he could play a deep lying playmaker at CAM.
Why??????
And yes, please no more Zardes. Again, this is not the old American teams where we just need to throw a guy with speed out there and hopefully outrun someone on the counter.
Bedoya's flub in the box was abysmal. The ball was screaming to be shot without stopping it first as the keeper was moving and not set. Once he trapped the ball, the keeper was set and then the angle was gone. A hard shot to either corner was a sure goal and even a hard toe poke would've had a better chance.
I'm sure Klinsmann feels that whatever position he puts a player in is the position the player should play.

It's start to grow on me. But what isn't is that we have the same jersey as England and France.
USA, England, France, Portugal and Brazil among other are all the same Nike template in different colors. But yes, England and USA home kits are almost identical sans a shade of blue and the red stripe.
Is Fabian Johnson ready to go because we could really use him tonight. He's had a great season so far
