White Supremacists In Supporter Section

Sure it is. The teams and the league can not tolerate any political or religious extremism no matter what the ideology.
I’m now positive you don’t understand the definition of extremism or your application of its use in this situation.

Yep. No bothsideism under any circumstance. As to Portland, the city has a very strong antifascist tradition but the state has a reputation as a birthplace of white supremacist militias, so I guess the Timbers have it a bit more clearly than NYCFC where their morals and their hearts are.

As to bothsideism the answer about how the MLS should deal with it is very clear. "Everyone is welcome" (referring to ethnicity, sexual orientation, LGBT etc) is one of the most visible campaigns emanating from the league's FO. They could focus group its supposed principles with, say, the local chapters of Antifa and Bikers for Trump (or any other similar) in every city with an MLS team, and see which group reacts better to it, aligns better with its objectives, is more willing to wholeheartedly embrace the campaign, etc. Then decide to support that group and not its enemies. It really is simple. "Everyone is welcome" does not mean you have to tolerate intolerance. And there is a reason why the stadiums are in urban areas and I am not going to remind you how urban areas vote.

How is this allowed to happen but we can’t say we don’t want nazis in the stands. The club is doing the worst they possibly can and it’s driving me to the point where I’m think this team is a Russian asset. It’s the only explanation how a team could fuck something up that’s as simple as saying nazis are bad.
That flag also had a crossed out swastika on it, similar to the way the hammer and sickle is there. It's just under the fold on the right hand side.

"Fascism is bad" is not an extreme position.
Agreed, but I think this is a bit of a strawman vs Antifa which is what NickA NickA is referring to.

And yeah, perhaps not all Antifa, but I think it's fair to say that Antifa have gone beyond saying "fascism is bad".

The Antifa he is referring to is the strawman. The Antifa boogeyman is not attending our games. Antifascists are.

Interesting. The double flag logo in the True Blues flag that Tommy was flying is an antifa thing, no?

If people thought this kind of banner were okay, they wouldn't have worn masks while they were holding it.

Tommy Miles is one of the people who got a warning

Adding on that im reading the club just gave out multiple 2 year bans to some of the people given up to the club via Tommy so im assuming that Twitter post is relevant to this.

Wait so let me get this straight: Nazis can only be banned if they act up in the stadium, but the guy trying to rid the stadium of nazis can be banned for social media actions?

I'm not sure why the team is struggling so much with this, but it's infuriating to watch them fail to deal with this problem.

Well, I think most of the letter towards him talking about action being taken was in reference where he was instructed to not display the banner, and then did so anyways.

Now, whether the banner should or shouldn’t be allowed is a different issue and I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t have been, especially considering what’s allowed at other MLS stadiums.

The social media bit really concerns me though. It’s very vague and I think would set a dangerous precedent.

Not to mention that if he's getting banned for social media postings and the nazis aren't, then what the hell is the team doing?

playing devils advocate. But are their twitter posts NYCFC related ? are they calling out NYCFC supporters? Are they calling for action in or around the stadium?

Their letter was vague so im not sure what they mean by monitoring his social meadia but i feel like thats what theyre talking about

I didn't say anything to you personally. I don't call anyone out directly on a forum that I wouldn't say in person. That said if you feel so strong about what I don't understand, you are more than welcome to come to my seat and explain it to me.

ETA: Not a threat in any way. I'd be more than open to hearing you explain to me what I don't know.

From what I've seen mostly calling out Tommy and asking that we focus on football. But then also bringing in a political flag to the DC away game lol.

I understand what you're getting at, but nothing that I've seen on his social media (granted, things very well could have been deleted that I haven't seen, or maybe I have missed something) gives me the impression that the club should take any action. Having posts that are NYCFC related, call out NYCFC supporters, call out NYCFC staff, or are calling for action should be fine in my book as long as they aren't threatening, which what I've seen doesn't appear to be.

I dont follow him that closely. I was just throwing it out there as a possible scenario as to why theyd be looking into his social media. And maybe he hasnt done any of those things but considering that letter was only a "warning" maybe they were just informing him so that he knows its not okay.

You responded directly to me as part of a conversation, and your use of the term “extremism” incorrectly/falsely labeled the subject matter to further your position as a both-sides argument. That’s either willful deceit or ignorance of the term’s meaning. Per your protect, I retract my accusation you don’t understand the meaning of the term; that then leaves the alternative.

If we ever had this conversation in person, I’d tell you the same thing that I said above. But no, I’m not going out of my way to find you in your seat as it’s not worth my time or effort to debate this at a match.

It's another reminder that their "we can only ban someone if they act out in the stadium" is complete BS. They could deal with this problem if they wanted to. They've actively chosen to bury their heads in the sand, and it's incredibly dispiriting.
