Yangel Herrera to NYCFC

Well, Tom in Fairfield CT there's your guy presumably. Maybe i was wrong and you were right about looking for a CDM. I know nothing about this guy except you all tell me he's a CDM.

If he is as good as Patrick Roberts, it's a coup. If he's Shay Facey, he's a solid rotational player. If he's Angelino, we got our hopes up for nothing!

I don't think it's a loan. Zero chance he'd be able to get a work permit in the U.K.

Interesting! So does CFG hold his certificate or whatever they call it? Is this a Third Party Ownership thing??

Either we bought him or Man City is doing the classic, frequently used, 4 year loan program lol

Or CFG owns him and is sending him to us. Can they own him as their own entity?

Why don't they just buy him, send him to us on a free transfer and then we can sell them back to CFG for some nice GAM profit when we're done with him?

It will be interesting to see if he is loaned to NYCFC what MLS does if CFG owns him. The Red Bulls mothership loaned out Damari to NJ and tried to not having him as a DP but MLS stepped in and said he had to count as a DP. Probably will depend on his salary.

Does MLS allow third party ownership? Do the Sam Allardyces allow third party ownership?

Possibly he will be our young DP on loan? After CFG paying for a 2 million transfer fee, MLS will most likely step in and force us to do what Red Bull's did with Damari.

With PV wanting to finalize his team ASAP and the probability of no 3rd DP till the summer, it might be probable.

It may have already been mentioned elsewhere but I have read in a few places that Benfica was also enamored with the kid and MC swooped in to avoid losing him. The first tier scouting and interest suggest that he has some serious promise. And his natural position is holding and defending in the middle. I like this one a lot if it's a reasonable deal (piggybacking on Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan 's comment re a DP deal, in which case I would have reservations.).

Forget whether MLS allows it. FIFA have banned third-party ownership outright anyway.

As Sam Allardyce taught us, there are ways around that.

Gabriel Jesus at 19 is an incredible player. Iheanacho and Patrick Roberts at the same age are impact players. Even if this is a Young DP move, I am willing to give this until the middle of April before I overreact here.

I'll just overreact elsewhere in other threads.

I seem to recall the following. Under normal circumstances, a player on loan only counts against the salary cap to the extent of the salary paid by the MLS club. However, if the loan is from an affiliate, then the MLS club has to recognize the full compensation for that year as if it owns the player. I think this would include at least an amortization of the acquisition cost.

So, no idea if we will have to count this guy as a DP. If we do, he would only be a Young DP, and at 19, that means he would only count $150K against the salary cap.

This could also be one of those situations where he counts as a DP for the first half of the season and then is a TAM player once we get a summer transfer.
