Honest question. How many minutes did
McNamara, Wallace, Awuah and Amagat see last year?

I don’t think they made the impact we think they did.
Too many

ETA: I got 1,761, though that was with me toggling between tabs on my phone while sitting at a bar
Wow. That’s way more than I anticipated. That’s essentially 20 games worth of minutes.

I get 1,741 which doesn't really change things much. Almost half were from Wallace, and Amagat's total is huge considering his first game was Game 26, which we was ejected from, and then was suspended the next game. He compiled his minutes in 7.5 games.

Wallace 818
Amagat 430
Awuah 143
McNamara 350

Sounds about right, I'm not surprised that my total was off.

Also, you could argue that we should add the minutes Amagat didn't play in that RB game after being sent off (I didn't include it, just thinking about this now), but that doesn't move the needle at all on the total minutes amount.

Yeah. Also I wouldn't have checked your work except you sort of suggested it. Pretty close for on the phone in a bar no less!

Thank you. We should probably include Berget in the total as well.

So the thinking is that Jonathan Lewis gives us 818 better minutes than Wallace and Keaton Parks gives us 923 better minutes than the other three guys. I can certainly get behind that as a theory. It tests our depth.

Are we saying Mitrita gives us 3,323 equal or better minutes than Villa and Berget? That was their combined minutes played last year. I can see that too.

But we’re still not better is my concern. We may be as good. And it all comes back down to our big DP scoring at an outrageous pace.

What does it tell us that he's been training with NJ for a while yet we are the ones who may offer a contract.

That Rossi, like I said already, is from NJ and is a RB guy. He's actually in Manchester though. I happened to speak to a guy from Italian Football TV over the weekend and I brought up Rossi. He told me that he spoke to Rossi about a month ago and Rossi said that he still wants to play at the "highest level." Any MLS team that would be foolish enough to sign this guy would be getting a largely disinterested player. He wants to play at Manchester United again with Solskjaer.

And yet after the brief training stig with ManU, OGS already gave him a letter of recommendation to any team but ManU. Rossi is arrogant and clueless.

Not saying Atlanta or NJRB won’t be tough, but did either of them really improve?

And I don’t see how NJ has done anything but regressed from last year after the loss of Tyler Adams.

The middle to back end of the east seems to have improved a bit with Chicago, philly, Orlando, and DC adding some nice pieces. But outside of DC, I don’t see how they compete with us over the full length of a season.

The MLS HQ narratives are the following:

Atlanta is still going to be the best and should win EVERYTHING because they got Pity and De Boer is a big coaching name

NJ lost Adams but they have that system and RBII so they will still challenge for the shield

DC is the hot ticket because did you see what they did in the second half? Top 3 team easy.

Everybody else is rather meh, including NYCFC which is going to regress big time because it lost Villa and Herrera and Dome can’t coach

Our biggest question mark is who takes Herreras spot and are they an equal or better replacement for what he brought to our first choice lineup. We know enough about Ofori to know he's a suitable backup option but certainly a downgrade. So either Parks or Sands need to win that spot and play well or else Herrera's departure will be a considerable net downgrade.

Yeap. And then at best the roster is a push from last season. Possibly a downgrade.

Not to be that guy, but I don’t understand how transferring Kamara out enables them to buy down Dos Santos

I don’t think it does. Just sounds like Kamara feels he’s underpaid. And they: 1. Don’t want to pay him more. 2. Don’t have any cap space left. 3. Don’t have any _AM left. 4. Any combo of 1,2,&3.

I think he’s the perfect fit here, as long as he’s comfortable not being penciled into the starting 11 each match. And based on all our estimates we have the cap space and TAM remaining to pay him what he wants.
