This thread doesn't exist and I think it should because I don't want to spend 5 hours deciding which thread is the most appropriate, only to choose the wrong one... also what I want to post about has nothing to do with any of the other general MLS threads.
Sticky please?

From this article, I found one section particularly hilarious:
For a wonderful example of team-on-team petty, we look to the southeast. (And, to clarify, this is an extremely abbreviated version of events.)

In 2017, Atlanta United pushed hard to make their first game with Orlando City matter because I’m not sure they realized that the entirety of the league would find them insufferable by April and they needed a common enemy to rally behind besides...everyone.

To stoke things, they bought a billboard in downtown Orlando informing the city they were “Coming to Conquer” (below).

That same year, Orlando’s Supporters’ Groups were banned from returning to Atlanta for a number of games. Orlando would later retaliate by doing the same to Atlanta. Atlanta would later beat Orlando in Atlanta and play a song from the Lion King over the sound system immediately following the final whistle. Orlando would later geoblock the entirety of the state of Georgia from buying tickets to the 2019 U.S. Open Cup semifinal.
Please focus your attention to the bolded statement... Dangling participles suck. Is this talking about "the entirety of the league finding Orlando insufferable" or "finding Atlanta insufferable"? And who is the 'they' right after that? And that's what makes this bolded statement so great, because the entire thing can be with 'Orlando' and 'Atlanta' and the meaning doesn't change

Fair point, for anything and everything MLS that isn’t really deserving on its own thread.

Mike Petke officially removed from his position after what happened against Tigres.
I think we all saw this coming.

Will be very tough for him to get another head coach position. Possibly a career ended.

Has there been an accurate public account of what he actually did/said to/about the refs in that match?
I believe it was reported that not only did he call them the offensive P* chant word, but he also sent them a note/letter after the match, to their locker room, with the same content. Don’t remember where I read that, but it was pretty definitive.

I’m sure if you asked Petke, you’d get something slightly different, or maybe not, since this seems to be going through without a public pushback. And maybe he’s waiting to later sue, but would seem he’d have a better chance of fighting a “for cause” fight while still holding the position than a year down the road after being replaced.

Maybe in MLS. I'm sure there are USL/CPL or even international teams that might take a chance on him if he wanted to stay in coaching, and maybe even re-join MLS at some later date.

he does really hate refs though when he feels slighted ( sometimes he has been screwed), hes had a few episodes prior to this. He does need that anger management i think, he just goes off. I dont know if he did that in NJRB though i never followed him there.

Montreal get rid of their head coach right before the final stretch. Will it help them make the playoffs?

lmao I was just about to post this.
Kinda weird, seeing what Cabrera did to Houston recently...
The weirdest thing about this is looking at their records (discussed in the article) they pretty much have the same ratio of W-L-D so... wtf Montreal? lol

The recent result probably tossed them over the fence as to whether they should get rid of him or not. Being up 3-0 at home and ending up with only 1 point by giving up 3 2nd half goals doesn't help anything. Also thought it was interesting that they said

"... our latest series of failures in the past couple of months and the way the team acts on the field led to that change..."

I wonder if players went to upper management and had some strong words against the coach. I don't think I've seen how a team acts as a reason to release a coach/manager, although maybe it should be used more often?

If people think we're over-exaggerating our attendance, oh boy look at LAFC. Their stadium in the highlights is not even _close_ to full yet they announced 22,100 which is higher than their full stadium capacity lol
