Can we get back on topic for the love of baby jesus??? This isn't about SGs calling each other names. The real serious issue here is that THERE ARE FUCKING RACIST AND HOMOPHOBIC BASTARDS IN THE SUPPORTERS SECTION.

The team got back to me and they said the issue is being addressed. Let's hope they can get these idiots banned from the stadium.

The person who initiated all of this stopped posting 3 pages ago. There's been nothing but normal conversation going on the last couple of pages with HoO being VERY civil and not calling anyone out. What exactly is so childish here?

I think he's talking in general terms. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Believe me, the vast majority of us feel the same way about the few that are acting like children.
Context... Context... Context.
Nothing bothers me more than people that generalize a group. 'All'... The thread poster apologized for misinformation and the only other person that added fuel to the fire realized we weren't going to jump on the bandwagon with him. Couple people late to party and reiterating everything and at the end of the day we're all good here.

Mario Mario - It's the truth, man. Talk to the actual people that were there. Get first-hand accounts. From members of all SGs. We all had a blast.

It didn't get weird until social media trolls went nuts post-match. We left the match bummed at the result, but excited about the good time we all had.

Here is a version of events that I have pieced together from various sources. If I am totally off base let me know.

Some folks with tickets in 237 decide that they want to sit in the front of 238. HOO arrive and start to behave like supporters. The folks in the wrong section take offense that HOO is behaving like supporters in the supporters section and become belligerent. HOO determines that these folks are not in the right section and have ushers escort them to their correct section. Later on the belligerent folks decide to act like 13 year old girls and take to social media to spread lies and exaggerations about HOO in an effort to stir up shit between them and the Third Rail. Sadly this has the intended effect and folks with axes to grind take the opportunity to voice their complaints. As fans we are left with a fractured supporters section and a public airing of dirty laundry. A resolution to this rift seems far off for various reasons.

Meanwhile in another part of the bleachers a handful of idiots unrelated to any of the groups chanted some racist homophobic crap by themselves. Thanks to the fact that this is morally reprehensible and has possible criminal implications I have faith that this problem will be quickly eradicated by the club and fans.

Remember when we just hated the refs?

Any chance you can post what the club said?

Would love to get that information out to everyone so that no one says the club isn't doint anything and so people don't get the idea that this is even remotely ok.

YES, ALL OF THIS! You also missed the part about me being a HoO member and getting to the Dugout at 3pm when it was supposed to open. I wanted to hang with those guys from the BBSC as well. It was closed, but a TR member was there, and I invited him down to YBG to have a drink and a few other TR members also showed up later. HoO showed them a great time and I wish I shared emails or FB contacts to prove this, or took photos to prove this. Another HoO member might have photos of them, they were by the bar in the front corner if I remember right. HoO & BBSC members were going back and forth between both their bars, pre-match. There were TR in both bars too. Some TR members that I recognized and said hi to, shared a beer and a laugh with. Everyone got along in real life. This is all internet insanity because a few TR members in the wrong seats complained about HoO's banners and excitement.

So there is a lot of second hand reports being thrown around on this thread. I was the TR member who was involved in the HoO incident. WE HAD TICKETS TO SECTION 237 - I CANNOT MAKE THIS CLEAR ENOUGH. I met my friends in front of 238 and thought it was a little weird but didnt think much of it because I saw a lot of people going back and forth between 237 and 238 at the first match. If someone from 238 wants only people with 238 tickets to be in that section then fine. I like the idea of people being able to go visit other SGs and friends in other sections but if that is not cool then so be it. Within 5 minutes of standing in front of the HoO banner someone started yelling "I hate your f***ing jacket", told me to F myself, yelled s*** about the TR, and accused me and my friends of yelling at HoO members. I didnt take this to heard because I just assumed it was some drunk guy voicing his opinion. Shortly thereafter a HoO member took it upon himself to come down and get in my face. He accused me of saying "go f*** yourself" to a girl who was holding the HoO banner. THIS IS TOTALLY FALSE. He then grabbed my arm and started pushing me and demanded that I leave the section. I tried to remain calm and asked him to relax. I told him we just wanted to enjoy the match and mentioned people moved sections all the time last match. Again, I know I had tickets to 237. Thats when he grabbed my head with his other hand and tried to throw me out of the section. I yelled at him to get the f*** off me. At this point my friends got involved and the cop came over. There was a lot of "what the f*** are you doing" being yelled from my group. This is because they were reacting to the guy grabbing me and trying to toss me. The situation cooled and we left the section. After the match we went over to the guys and tried to talk it out so that there would be no bad blood between HoO and TR. They were cold and didnt want to talk to us because we were not TR board members. A few of the guys did end up talking to us and they were alright. We said we were sorry and that we didnt realize it was such a big deal to be in the wrong section. They let us know that it was and we said we would stay in ours from now on. Thats it. Thats how it ended. I know we should not have been in 238. I did not think it was a big deal. I was wrong about that. However, I never should have had someone grab me and try to physically throw me. That was the main issue I had with the situation. We were both in the wrong and I hope people learn from this. Bad blood between HoO and TR will make going to NYCFC matches anything but fun.

Are these groups that have formed to follow nycfc or groups that already existed and tagged themselves onto nycfc ?

The groups have formed to follow NYCFC. Again, lots of petty bull and ego stroking. I am an active member in Hearts of Oak and paying Third Rail and have been proactively trying to help get everyone on the same page.

So, that HoO "rule" that you can't be in TR or any other "supporters group" (as opposed to a "social club") doesn't actually exist or was it merely relaxed after HoO got completely trashed all over the internet back in February? I'm genuinely asking because I know that has kept some people from pursuing HoO membership.

It's not so much an HoO rule as it is an MLS rule. For administrative purposes a supporters group needs a certain amount of people to be called an Official Supporters Group. The original wording wasn't clear enough unfortunately.

I had paid my 2015 dues to TR before being made aware of HoO. There are a handful of former and current TR in Hearts of Oak due to crossover. Currently, I am also trying to bring both groups together.

What he said. MLS rule. Can't gain official status if members belong to 2-3 other groups. So can only belong to one at a time. But totally cool to chill with everyone else and we do. Goodfella Goodfella Tom, Great seeing you at Ryan's Daughter, I'm sorry I personally haven't made it to Yankee Tavern yet, but I mean to correct that next match! All SGs should be united.
