2016 Preseason Thread

Not really preseason related, but it's going to be nice to play March, April and May without an impending sense of doom like last year. Lest we forget, Guaje missed a lot of time with the adductor injury. I'm surprised people didn't just leave when they saw the team we had in spring 2015. It'll feel so much better to go into each game with a lineup full of talent that will always give us a chance. I highly doubt we'll have the shit stretch we had last year.

That was so brutal. I remember wondering if we would ever win and watching in a semi shocked state of euphoria when Mullins scored that deflected goal to beat Philadelphia.

i thought PV brought his people in? if not then we are going to keep seeing lots of injuries man i remember last year so much injuries.

I'm not sure all I know is the players were laughing at our lineups last season too hard and straining their inductors every week.

This is a great conversation. It makes me wonder whether we need more depth at forward. We've got a nice young core, but I'm not sure I want to rely on any of those guys if Villa is absent.

I remember going to our first ever game in Orlando and I saw the lineup I said omg, we are awful lol.....we still should have gotten 3 points that game but it was a great game to be a part of with great atmosphere.

Yesterday evening I went to the schedule page of the Club's website to see if the start times for our preseason matches have been set yet and this is what I found:



First, I don't recall a match against OKC Energy ever being announced. Secondly, the announced match against the Impact is gone and the match against Reykjavik FC is back. Also, no start times for any of the matches.

holy crap first preseason is this weekend, i thought there was still another week. awww yess it begins that impact friendly must of been called off. but on the other hand we play 5 preseason games which i like. more reps, though i think OKC was one of the good USL teams last year.

Hopefully Velasquez won't be running around studs up looking to exact revenge in that OKC game.

Florida Gulf Coast's ticket website lists their game against NYCFC as a 5:30PM start time.

True...and he probably finally had a legitimate rest after two years of consistent football.

Is it likely that there will be a youtube stream of these games available? Last year the teams (either NYCFC or opponent) were streaming the matches I think. Although I was excited enough to watch a few of them, I wasn't starving to see the team the way I am now

100% this. I have said it before if we are playing a 4-3-3 we are still very thin at the forward position. Villa and Mullins are the only proven players we have. Even just looking at bench depth we seem thin. Assume we start some combination of Villa, Mullins, Shelton, Harrison. The only other forward sub we have is Taylor. Unless Poku plays forward instead of midfield.

I okay with Poku in the false 9 spot but in this scenario our wings are shelton/harrison/taylor? I still think we need some depth. Taylor has been injured or an MLS bench warmer for his time in the league, Harrison is already working on coming back from injury and Shelton hasn't shown himself to be the most durable player.
