2017 Schedule Thread

Atlanta game is Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend, which makes it a good one for travel. Add to it that Atlanta is a really easy and fun trip from NYC. Lots of flights, and you can just take the train to downtown and anywhere else you want to go.
Going to have to plan a forums trip for sure.

6 away games that aren't nationally televised. Why does this bother me?

Well, I always watch our games on TV, home (after watching in person) and away. But the away games are the first time you get to see the match and hear the commentary. So we only get to hear Joe and Ian call it live six times, though Ian Joy may not be around for all six for his FOX duties. So that's a shame.

We already use a green screen, why can't he be in LA and Joe be in the studio on the east coast?

WooHoo! Go Hobo Hobo! Before the official announcement!

As a rough gauge of how uneven the schedule is I checked when each team plays its 17th game. The earliest are June 17 (Columbus, New England, Orlando, RSL, SKC ) and the last are about 2.5 weeks later on July 5 (Montreal and Vancouver).
PS the Form guide is up, although it appears blank you just have to hover.

Plus 11:45 AM on July 22. It's not inconceivable that they virtually eliminated such games everywhere else but YS due to our special situation.

Where are people getting the 11:45 start?

Is it crazy to think our first eight matches are games we should win?

Only if you are completely undervaluing DC and forgetting how difficult the 3 road games might be. I do agree it's an easier stretch of games overall.

Doesn't look very easy to me. We never play well against Orlando. I think Montreal is one of the better teams in the league. Also, you stopped at 8, is that saying we wouldn't be expected to beat ATL at home? Everyone is excited about their players, but we all know better than anyone that it takes time to get a team playign together.

This could be the last of the three game series in the schedule.

This would only happen if two teams enter the league in 2018 (East and West) and MLS keeps the schedule format and a 34 game schedule. One home and away versus the same conference translates to 22 games and playing once against the other conference means 12 games, for a total of 34.

So, this is the final time we could play the Red Bulls three times in a season. Meaning they would have 5 home games in the series and we would only have 4 after this year before going to each having one in the regular season.

Well, they have a huge advantage over where we were in that they aren't fielding largely shit players.

July 19th - September 16th will decide our season. If we don't enter July 19th in good position I don't see us leaving 09/16 in playoff position.
Only three of those games are against non playoff opponents (2016) and 2 of the three narrowly missed playoffs. The other team (Chicago) looks like they'll be much improved.
