2017 Season Tactics Thread

Just another interesting tidbit for SITC, Viera said that he got the idea for the 432 from watching Chile vs Argentina maybe from the Copa America Final last year.

Makes me wonder if a 352 might better suit us than the 343 if we do go 3 ATB with Villa and Harrison up top.

The fun and good thing is that we could probably sit and argue about where Harrison is better working centrally or more on the wing. His versatility is so important for years (hopefully) to come.

Jack Harrison:

Pro: Can dribble anyone out of their shoes

Con: Doesn't make the correct pass, pass in tight spaces or dribble with his head up

Verdict: Winger

Just to spur discussion, is everyone 100% convinced Maxi is best at CAM rather than on the wing?

Maxi is an effort guy, and I appreciate that he puts in work defensively, but he got pushed around by Bradley a few times last game. I can't help but wonder if he would be just as effective in space on the wing, and a more physical CAM more effective at rounding out our 3-man midfield. I don't think that player is on the roster right now, but I'm thinking ahead to Pirlo's replacement.

I think he would be effective but you would then be taking Rodney Wallace out of the lineup. I agree with Gotham on the DP.

I wouldn't let one failed experiment keep Wallace out of LB, where he has played well for other teams.

The question is whether it's worth moving him back in order to give Lewis a start on the wing. For now, I am happier with Sweat in back and Wallace ahead of him, but if Sweat's not available, then I like Wallace and Lewis.

During the second half of the TOR match I tossed out the wacky idea of taking TMac off for Okoli (leaving Villa on) and pushing Maxi out to the wing to combine with Callens while keeping Okoli central, either with Villa just behind him or with both of them up top.

The thing is he hasn't played well there for other teams. He was shit their for the Timbers too. He's just a shit left back.

During the first half I toyed with the idea of taking TMac off and not even using a sub.
