Well, after rewatching that segment, Matt Doyle said that Kwame Awuah WILL count as an international.

If he signs with us, we would be using all 9 of our international spots.

EDIT: We're good...

(Someone else asked the question on Twitter)

Haven't you learned by now that our research here is 10x better then Doyle's?

Thank you? Because I'm such a go getter...

I meant that all as a compliment. I know it's hard to tell if I'm being sarcastic sometimes, so I wanted to clarify.

What I mean is that you often try to figure out the answers to questions by piecing together information. Most kids your age that I have dealt with, even my analysts when I was in fin/consulting, usually couldn't or wouldn't try to solve anything unless the answer was direct and clear. You're ahead of the game just based on your work for NYCFC. Of course, if you did work for me, I'd tell you to get off the damn message board.

Lewis called into USMU20 camp for the World Cup...

http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...or-january-camp-ahead-of-world-cup-qualifying

We could be without him for some time...

Should Lewis make the squad for the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship (FIFA U20 World Cup qualifying), US matches are February 18, 21, and 24. If we are top two in our group, we would then play February 27, March 1, and 3. Being in the top two of that group qualifies for the World Cup. If we're top of the group, then the final would be March 5.

The U20 World Cup runs from May 20 - June 11.

Well, even if he can't train with us he'll at least be match fit at the start of the season.

Way too premature to know what the hell they are talking about, but it's grading time.

I've read this a while ago. I don't think he's taking into account anything outside of the SuperDraft. Just looking at the day itself, spending $250K for the third pick and $75K on the 16th pick is a lot of cash to splash.

However, taking into context the sale of Poku and Mullins for GAM and GAM and TAM, it's a good day for us.

A "B" seems about right until we see results down the line. We seem to have gotten good talent by paying a lot. It's also hard to judge how much is "a lot" of GAM since we don't know exactly how much we have.

Presumably this approach to the draft diminishes after the Academy starts generating roster players.

Our oldest academy players are currently 16 years old. Names to look out for in that age group are Jose Flores (December 2000) and James Sands (US U17, both July 2000). So, we're still probably 3-5 years away from signing homegrown players. Gio Reyna plays on the U15/16 team and is only 14 years old and 2 months (November 2002).

It's going to be great when we have a full academy system with all age groups.

it would not be unheard of to graduate a 16yo. Been done in MLS and not much older in other leagues.

I can definitely see players graduate the academy and sign a professional contract at 17/18 as they graduate high school.

I think the kids on the BNT will definitely graduate at 17/18 to get a jump on full-time training. Unless they have aspirations of being a doctor or another profession, they're likely going to skip college. When that happens, we're going to need a legitimate affiliate USL team.

This is where it would help to have a real USL reserve team under our technical control. The worst thing that a 16 year old could do would be to sign a first team contract and not play.
We totally have an affiliate. You don't know them because they live in Canada.

Look who picked up my post. Jack Harrison became a regular started in the beginning of June. If Lewis follows a similar schedule, he should keep his GA classification to 2018 saving us cap room. #CrookCrooks

This is good for the team. Gets him playing time and he'd keep his GA status by missing the first half of the year (if comparatively equal to Jack on second half playing time).

I get the benefit of him not playing too much for GA purposes, but looking at this schedule why should we expect that he won't be with the team during the two full months between March 5 and May 20?
