Forget about the highlight reel, he was 2x captain of UConn, and they're traditionally pretty good. Made 1st team for his conference. He's not that big though, the team's website lists him as 5'7" 160#; if anything, hopefully that means he has a low center of gravity for sticking tackles because he's not going to win a lot of headers.
Right he doesn't look tall but he plays big. You can tell when he's against defenders or attackers he has good strength.

Never trust a highlight video. They only show the good. Not the bad and the average.
You can still get an idea of a players ability. He played some great cross field balls there and other above average passes. Take Sebastian's videos from the past that were just short passes and him running really fast. You can tell he's composed under pressure and is comfortable distributing. Time will tell. We'll see all three of them a lot in preseason.

Yeah. The real difficult thing to normalize for is speed of play. In most of those highlights it looks like he had a lot of time to make decisions . He also seemed physically superior to those around him, which could be a function of having developed more quickly than his peers.

I don't remember Seba's highlight reels but his inability to get on the ball consistently or find the final pass / shot necessary to truly make an impact is a symptom of the above, IMO. Otherwise his ball skills were fine.

Kwame will be up against more physically mature and smarter players now and it will be interesting to see whether he can keep up.

Someone who doesn't get talked a lot in our front office is David Lee, Director of Player Recruitment. He formerly worked for the Red Bulls as performance analyst working with player data and opposition research.

During the live stream, I noticed he was at the Seattle table signing papers before our trade for the 16th pick.

He's definitely our MLS salary guy.

Kwame Awuah is born in Canada. If he signs, would he count towards the internationals spots we have?

Did some searching and I didn't see anything.

Article says MLS approved academy. Something tells me if wherever he played as a kid wasn't approved, it will be shortly. Because MLS...

"Canadian-approved youth clubs, meanwhile, do not have to be affiliated with an MLS club. MLS will make available a complete list of qualifying youth clubs at a later date."

Have an answer.... Maybe?
Cyle Larin signed with Orlando as a Gen Adidas player. Pretty sure he isn't considered one this year and wasn't protected as an international player in the last expansion draft. He took the same cours e of development as Kwame. Sigma > UConn

From some short research Sigma is one of the top Canadian academy's. Sending a good amount of players to youth national teams and even bringing in Euro scouts.
