Keaton Parks is going to play CDM, CAM, and ST at the same time.
Update on all our current off-season narratives:
1. Signing Keaton Parks (MF, 21, FIFA rating 69) on 1 year loan from Benfica
He was not in the lineup for Benfica B squad, and it's reported he's in NYC at the moment.
2. Re-signing Yangel Herrera (MF, 21, FIFA rating 68)
There was mention of an Extra Time Radio episode coming up with Reyna discussing this. We don't know the status.
3. Releasing Jo Inge Berget (F, 28, FIFA rating 70)
It's been reported, but not confirmed. News yesterday was he is returning to Malmo.
4. Signing Lucas Venuto (F, 23, FIFA rating 70) from Vienna.
It's been 3 days since any more news came futon this one.
5. Signing Justin Haak (MF, 16, FIFA rating NA) to 1st squad contract.
There has been no more news on this in 5 days.
6. Signing Gary Mackay-Steven (W, 28, FIFA rating 72) from Aberdeen
This news came out today that NYCFC was interested.
7. NYCFC own the 19th pick in the MLS Super Draft tomorrow.
19th Picks usually mean nothing, but if they trade out or up, it could get interesting.
8. Signing Kevin Quevedo (MF, 21, FIFA rating NA) from Alianza Lima

Heard a credible rumor that Orlando was interested in him after Minnesota dropped out, maybe he'll land there? Anyway it can't be a good sign when you're chasing the same guy as those two front offices, so this might be for the best.
Look at that list it is so sad.. I thought his team wanted to have ambition to be a big club , to win championships , have a big fan base but I guess they settled for being good enough to give the illusion that they care. Sad I had high hopes for NYCFC.

In all honesty, I would not mind seeing a 3-5-2 or a WM formation. Callens-Ring-Chanot at the back. Herrera and Parks playing above them with max at the top of the 3-man CM. play any of tindy, isa, mata, lewis, et al on the wingback.

Judging by all of the social media activities surrounding his departure, I think the club knew it was a big deal.

What's the biggest name that NYCFC would sign in the summer that would go to NYCFC and not Man City?
More and more, I'm feeling NYCFC is an afterthought for those in charge and operate the club.
My money is on summer window, if we start the season without anyone that's the indication to me that it's a name.
Edit sorry totally misread, we are saying the same, I have no idea, I'm not the right person around here to guess at names. I will say I wouldn't be surprised if they send us a City player but again no idea who.

I think they knew it was a big deal but I think it's possible you can know it's a big deal while also wildly underestimating the impact its going to have on interest in the team and ticket sales. Our FO can be a bit overconfident and dense, I could totally see them thinking it will be bad but we can get by without a big name for a year or so we have time.
I think/guess that they failed to account for 2 additional factors. One, impatience with the lack of stadium news seems to be increasing exponentially. Second, I think they expected a much more sanguine response to the coaching transition/prolonged slump.
This is the big question in evaluating our off-season moves. What formation will we play?
If we go with a 4-4-2, then we need an extra CM in addition to Ring, Sands and Parks to provide the needed depth. More importantly, we'd have a mismatch up top, where we have tons of wingers and no center forwards.
Similarly, right now we have a really good set of center backs; but if we go to a 3-man backline, we will need 1-2 more.
Our roster was built really well for a 4-3-3. If we stick with that, it will be fairly easy to add players that are upgrades and replacements. Anything else will require more substantial changes.
We’re rolling now! Two new invitees to training camp, specifically to help with set pieces.
Sounds like Yangel isn't coming back.
