2026 General MLS Transfer Thread

It's Silly Season, so let's kick off with some silliness:

Salah seems to be consistently linked to the Saudi Pro League in all the rumors I've seen the last few years. It would be a shock if he landed in MLS instead, but if CFG wanted to make a splash, Salah would do it.

Good grief.

I'm not accusing Miami or MLS of anything nefarious because it would be a potentially league-destroying scandal if they were skirting the rules, but how does Miami have the cap space for this considering everything else on their roster?

Their front office has done a really good job fitting everything in.

Step 1: Max out the value of your DP spots and make sure you are using them on true superstars
Step 2: Leverage said superstars to attract other talented players on team-friendly deals that can be accommodated by leveraging TAM and GAM
Step 3: Actually spend most of your GAM and don't sit around on it like there's some trophy at the end of the season fro biggest GAM pile
Step 4: Win MLS cup and look primed for a repeat, thus enticing more FA to come on team-friendly deals in hopes of winning a cup.

People underestimate how important Villa, Lampard, Pirlo, Veiera and even Dome were to building this club. Players have so many options around the world to choose from. It's a lot easier to attract players when they can come and play with a high profile player or coach. I've always wondered how many of our key players from 2021 would have been here if they some of those legends weren't here. Even though all the big names were gone by 2021, almost the entire core of that team had been here.
