Acceptable Outcome Next Two Matches

After a week off, we have an away-home double with Philadelphia, currently last in the league standings with 2 points on 4 games. We should be at full strength with everyone available after a week off. Philly travels to KC on Sunday night.

Given all that, what's the outcome you are looking for in these next two matches. I'd personally like to see at least 4 points.

I'd like to see at least 4 points from the two games. I think we tie away and win at home

That was my first thought too. I'd like to think we can take all six, but with the return match being only 5 days later and the next match 3 days after that, I honestly believe Villa doesn't dress for the 5/16 game at Yankee Stadium.

We've struggled significantly in our attack in 3 of our 4 games. I'm not sure we can confidently say we need 6 points from a home/away set of matches yet. I say 4 would be good.

I think 6pts is possible against the Union and I would happily take 4pts for sure. I'm guessing Philly would be happy with 3pts and would love to get 4 (3 at home and 1 in The Bronx).

Looking a little further out, NYCFC has 4 relatively favorable matches in April (@Philly, vs. Philly, vs. Portland, and @Chicago) and then a much tougher May (vs. Seattle, @NYRB, vs. Chicago, @RSL, and vs. Houston). Based upon the upcoming schedule, I really feel like April is crucial. These next 4 matches are probably the easiest part of the entire season. So, we really need something to show for it. I'd like to see at least 7 pts from April (2 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw) and anything above that would be great. As a comparison, we had 4 games in March and finished with 5pts (1 win, 1 loss, 2 draws).

I'd love to get all six points but everyone saying we NEED six points needs to settle down.

We're only a month into the season. We're not going to win every game.

Yes. I know, it's Philly. We should take 6. I agree but I'm not going to hit the panic button if we don't.

Figured I'd address this before all the "club in crisis" posts pop up.

Pick any thread.......It already has!!! LOL

i want us to start scoring. weve only scored 3 goals in 2 games. im hoping we dont turn into that team that relies on villa being in the lineup every game in order to at least score goals.

Because MLS unlike Europe is a play off league and LOTS of teams make the play offs I don't think this is as crucial as it would be if we were elsewhere in the world. Hopefully we will have both Lampard and a third DP for the later part of the season which will matter more. Not saying I don't want to win these games because I do but this is the way I see it.

While these games should get us at least 4 points, it's not the end of the world if they don't. This is MLS, where you often see teams struggle out of the gate before going on a tear all the way to MLS Cup. You also see far more upsets than you do in the PL.

Unfortunately, we are that team, and most likely will be for the rest of this season. It will take us at least another year or two before we can acquire and develop a plethora of quality attacking talent. Perhaps later in the season, one of our youngsters will develop enough to be more reliable, but we just are not there yet.

Unfortunately, this is not Europe where we can just open our wallets and build a quality eleven. It will take several years of drafts, DP's, trades and discovery projects before we are on equal footing with the rest of the league.

Yes spot on, all we need to do is make the playoffs. Getting every point we can is crucial but it's not over if we don't. People are over-reacting too a point were a expansion club, who just lost our first game. Yes we were out played in the last 2 games, but clearly there's ways to go. We are nowhere near as bad as Toronto FC or some other expanison teams of the past. Anything is possible I wouldn't count anything out, but it can be hard to be patient but that's what the club needs. It takes years and years to build a real idenity, our roster isn't done not sure about others but I would love a new DP to be a defender not sure what's gonna happen but my faith in the club is unwavered time my friends time.
