There is always a strong NY vs Boston rivalry. Now that there is a true NYC team, the Revs may become a rival. It all comes down to games though. If a Revs aren't a challenge, there will be no rivalry.

If we make a supporters cup I think regardless of overall standings, there will be a rivalry in the fight to win that cup.

This is all crap. Rivalries are created through competition. Look at Lakers/Celtics, Giants/Cowboys, Canadians/Bruins. Yes, some are created through proximity, but guessing who our rivals will be is just trivial. Let the competition dictate who our rivals will be. Who knows? Maybe our greatest rivals will be LA Galaxy because in 10 years time we will both be continually battling in MLS Cup.
