Curious: Are Most Club Songs Derivatives Of Other Songs?

Are most club songs derivatives of other songs? Am wondering if we should have some originals in here. Of course this question is coming from someone who doesn't write songs...

I think most chants are derived from other songs, marches, etc. The benefit of that is that most people already know the melodies; like "When the Saints go marching in" for example.
In regards to originals, I don't think it's a bad idea... however that's something that has to come naturally with the times as the team and supporter club evolves.
