He has been my idol for a long time. What I liked about him was his determination, professionalism and bravery. This award just proved all of those points. My dude David came to America without speaking a single word of english and 2 years later he is receiving MVP awards and delivering full speeches in English. Well done, Guaje. I am so proud.

I wouldn't discount what Gio means to TFC & that organization. They have every right to protest him not being considered.

That being said, Villa really stepped up this year. Every team should be lucky enough to have a DP as dedicated to winning as him. Well deserved.

Gio's biggest support came from the media and his lowest was from his fellow players. I can only wonder what's going on there. DV dominated the player and club vote (as much as one could with a split field), while the media basically split 3-ways, but not for the top 3. K-stache edged out Giovinco for top 3 by almost doubling him in the player vote. K-stache also beat his teammate in the player vote.

According to the MLS website, the club vote is derived from club coaches, Technical Directors, CBOs and PR Directors.
