Where do the players go? Free Agents? On loan for two years, expansion draft eligible?

Looks like MLS is going to "place" Cubo Torres. Most likely destination is with LAG.

What an attack that will be for the next 8 years with Torres and a Zardes

If they go hiatus, they will do a dispersal draft. When and how we don't know yet. Will it be before the expansion draft? Does NYC and ORL get first dibs?

Not convinced Torres stays in MLS let alone in LA.

Looks like it would cost $7 Million to buy him and keep him in MLS. I don't understand who MLS buys him from.

I will say this, if MLS wants to be big time, you keep Torres here. All the best CONCACAF players NEED to be in MLS if they are playing in a CONCACAF League. We have to be the league of choice for Mexican, Costa Rican, etc. talent.

From what has been speculated, most players on the roster either have expiring contracts or on loan. Most likely only a few players will be available for dispersal. They could just include them in the regular supplemental draft.
When MLS purchased the club, I think they had already planned to put them on hiatus after the season (even though they won't admit it) and have been preparing for it since.

Garber is going to announce the official plan on all of this Thursday. He mentioned it in his half-ass attempt of a letter written to all 17 Chivas USA fans.

You realize that Garber and even Chivas saved this league ten years ago? Garber has his faults but he has been the best sports commish in the US bar none. And although the Chivas plan was flawed they stepped up to join when no one else would (along with Salt Lake).

I think a lot of people will be surprised in 2017 when both MLS clubs in LA are selling out and winning.

Does anyone know how the dispersal draft will work?

To determine the draft order, MLS will hold a random weighted draw on Nov. 14 using an envelope method. The system will be weighted by giving the 2014 playoff clubs a single envelope and giving the non-playoff clubs two envelopes. The random selections will be conducted by an MLS league office representative until each club has been appointed a draft position.

Orlando City SC and New York City FC will participate in the Dispersal Draft and be treated as 2014 non-playoff qualifying clubs in the weighting order.

The Dispersal Draft will be held via private teleconference call with representatives from each club, and clubs will be given one minute to determine their selection. The draft will conclude when all MLS clubs forego a selection.

Hopefully someone sticks our envelope in the freezer on the 13th
