Sincerely , I am happy with Portugal winning although I was cheering for France too. CR7 has never been my in my list of favorite footballers, however in the game with Poland he won my respect. He had a Suarez moment (threw himself in the grass in despair and frustration) But he composed himself , I am ok with people showing emotion and passion when things are not going their way however its how you react to it . do you Rise above it or sink under the weight of those emotions? Ronaldo did and he won my empathy. I no longer saw a pampered sport star , spoiled playboy but someone I can like. Congrats Portugal and the entire football team.This 2016 Euro cup has been fantastic, teams that were underdogs won respect, fans , moral support, earned a place in football history on and off the pitch and put their country in the geography maps.
Certainly not glad Ronaldo was injured, but Portugal winning while he gets no credit is ideal outcome.

huh did not expect portugal to win....good for him I guess....yet messi gets convicted and gets a whole social media campaign of support...lol fuck no i pay my taxes.
i will say that the whole 24 team thing did dilute the quality of tournament....but at the same time we would not get the underdog stories of Iceland, wales.....or even portugal.
i did chuckle at the saltiness of ESPN commentators and their dislike of how it was won...only ballack seemed ok with it.....defense wins titles....if only nycfc had a good defense MLS cup is ours.

I think the issue is more that Portugal drew 3 matches against mediocre opponents. Needed extra time and PK's against two more mediocre opponents and then beat Wales to get there. Then play all out defense in the final. I know it'll sound sour grapes from a France supporter but their easily the worst major tournament winner and this is easily the worst Major Tournament since Greece/Euro 2004 respectively in general.
