I’m almost certain they backed out of the Overtown location after Jorge Mas joined the ownership group. Mas is a smart guy. He realized that Overtown location was not nearly big enough to build a world class SSS and surrounding area.

It's crazy how fast this league changes. Three years ago, Orlando City was selling out the Orange Bowl and moving into a brand new SSS as one of the league's new flagships. In 2020, they'll be the third or fourth most interesting team in the Southeast, out of four teams.
It's going to be really interesting to see the league in 5 years. It's possible that the MLS 2.0 narrative of signing and selling young superstars like Almiron and Martinez will be the optimal blue print. BUT, Zlatan and Rooney have demonstrated that motivated twilight stars still have an important place in this league. AND, it is possible that with Messi and CR7, MLS will have two of the best to ever play the game play in the league during that time, which will be monumental for the league. Add in a mix of the likes of Zidane, Griezmann, etc. to the league, and there is the potential for a league of flashy stars of young and old. (I will keep this post positive, as there are of course the many factors that may and may continue to hold the league back.)

I wonder how this league would work. Would some, or all LigaMX teams just join MLS? Would a new entity be formed? It seems extremely complicated from a business perspective, but could possibly be good for the game in this country as it would unify the massive LigaMX base and the largely separate domestic supporter base.

It would make for some very lopsided conferences based on geography, and unless broken into multiple divisions, the specter of not having Home/Away matches vs same team/same year would be huge.
I could see the “traditional” Mexican powerhouses join with the lesser clubs left out; that way the big clubs have the safety of no lower division to drop in to as MLS is a locked league, unless the tri-Country league is a segregated NASL-1 & NASL-2 (how fitting to use the North American Soccer League moniker as that’s what this really would be) and movement is tied internally within the “same” league.
Still.... this seems like nothing more than hypothetical banter by the leagues to gauge revenue possibilities, but the logistics of folding the two leagues and then starting fresh across three countries would pose all types of legal & tax issues and roster/academy changes.

Florida International University, Marlins Park, Hard Rock Stadium (I would think this would be the obvious choice for the first regular season match in club history).
I could even see them playing one match at FAU in Boca Raton as a way to expose the club to north Broward County and Palm Beach County.
If they don't start building by November 2019, Beckham Miami United loses their MLS expansion option. But I guess since they had that announcement party, if they take the expansion spot away, that would just look very, very bad.
