Fifa Corruption

2026 World Cup. Now that its voted by all the members of FIFA, would members be willing to give a WC to the USA knowing that many of them would never want to step in the USA ever again after what has transpired ?

If Sepp Blatter says vote for the USA for 2026, the FIFA member nation sheep will vote for the USA. Just look at how Qatar won theirs, crazier things have happened.

I don't think Blatter wants anyone scrutinizing FIFA and his reign anymore than they have to, so I think the USA will get the 2026 World Cup as one of the many ways he'll make this scandal go away (by bribing the opposition).

Just the opposite. Blatter was making a lot of noise before the election about USA hosting in 2026 (because everyone knows we were bribed out of 2022). As soon as USA/Gulati threw his support behind Prince Ali Blatter changed his tune . By nominating Prince Ali, USA/Gulati conceded that we will never host the World Cup with Blatter and his corrupt cohorts running FIFA.

How on earth did blather manage to win? How much were the Asian and African voters given in compensation for their votes?!

With MUCHO , MUCHO DINERO, and possibly another spot for an African and Asian nation in the WC : The guy is acting like A Charlemagne, so what is to stop him from increasing the number of spots? or possibly We Pobrecitos South Americans will loose another spot? South America used to have 5 spots , in last World Cup qualifying it was 4.5

You have to watch John Oliver s latest Fifa bit. One of the points that hit home is that there is a big pot of money in which each country splits world cup profits up equally (after the corruption takes $$ off the top) so Guyana gets as much of that z$$ as the USA and those lousy soccer countries are loyal to Blatter because the $$ can be split up differently.

He mentions that the U.S. gets the same amount of money as Montserrat. Our population is 320 million people. Theirs is 6,000 people

well see what happens now and who takes the post and who will also fill in the other exec spots and VP spots. I honestly did not trust the prince since he was the number two for blatter. If he gets picked, then it may be more of the same.

I hope it doesn't go back to what it was before, that FIFA was very euro centric. and all other confederations be dammed.

Boom. There it is. He knows what is coming. Now, lets hope that he doesn't just ride off into the sunset. All of this happened under his watch.

apparently he will help "reform" FIFA in the remaining time, maybe there was a plea deal somewhere?

Pish. Don't listen to a word of it. I just listened to his resignation speech, and he talked about how "his" attempts at cutting corruption, limiting the terms people could stand in a position (including President!) for, and so on had been thwarted by forces opposed to him, like he was the shining saint and FIFA was oppressing him with its corruption. This is just a classic tactic used by those who are guilty as feck, trying to save their reputations by suddenly becoming the personification of good in order that the record books remember them as forces for change and not the very reason that revolution was required. It's nothing to do with a plea bargain. It's to do with him being genuinely afraid that even his closest supporters are suddenly going to see him for the Hitlerite that he is.

Hopefully Blatter's replacement is a far less corrupt leader that he was.

When is the new vote going to take place?

What events changed that led to Blatter resigning? Wasn't he disputing his involvement in the corruption less than a week ago?

fair point, but the question now remains, is he going to push for a guy that has his "approval", i mean still at least four months away from this new election to occur.

I don't want to get my hopes up just yet. Afterall there are still many officials that voted for Blatter and we all know that there's a good chance that he had them in his pockets. Until the entire organization is cleaned up I don't really see any major changes coming unless the person replacing Blatter is truly incorruptible.

It's a fair question I suppose. We'll have to see. I'm still hoping that he gets shipped off to Guantanamo Bay before the next election so that all of his existing support base can crumble into obscurity.
