But it is (assuming you're responding to my post). When you're in Pot 1 as the host, you don't have to face a Pot 1 team. So Russia has an easier group schedule than they would have if they were not the host.

If you ever read Soccernomics (and I strongly suggest it), they mention this stat along with tackles made. Both stats are not the best for evaluating performance, because a smart player can cover less ground and make less tackles by being in the proper positions to begin with.
