speculation will always be around until he is cap tied. i dont think your dad being best buddies with someone guarantees anything though.
The player will cap tie himself to the US. Good on the FA for doing their due diligence. But it’s not happening
i dont think england really had a chance, their own passport rules are complex and i think difficult to obtain one with no british ties. if anything portugal has better shot since passport is there already, im sure aregentina wanted him too but their FA is a mess so i dont see anything happening there.

Nice article in the Athletic about Gio Reyna. Long and detailed about his rise at Dortmund and his upbringing in NYC. It includes a good discussion of his time in the academy and his friendship with Scally. The article also reveals that Reyna was first brought in to train with the first team at the end of the 2017 season.
There are also several paragraphs about Gio's decision to sign with Dortmund and not NYCFC. He seems to have been very tempted by staying home, but in the end the lure of Europe and Dortmund's plan for him and its experience with Pulisic took him overseas. The article reveals that some in MLS were unhappy with the result, and there were rumors that Claudio's separation from NYC had something to do with that decision. Claudio rejects that saying that he was up front with NYC the entire time and that the decision was left to Gio.

Overall, he looked good, although was a bit passive at times when he had the ball on the right wing. That may have been strategy to not send in crosses.
It was interesting to see him isolated with Davies so many times.
And a pretty assist on their first goal.
Think it's pretty obvious that Gio was never going to be an MLS player, that going to one of the biggest leagues in the world was the right move for his development, and that any criticism of Claudio for how that went down is misplaced. Hopefully it's not the reason for his departure from the club. If it was, that's a needlessly terrible decision.

Sure, but training compensation would have been nice. Maybe $250K in GAM or something?
