Frank Lampard Thread

I can't see them sending back Lampard even if they do lose to Chelsea. It would look to everyone like an admission of defeat.

He‘ll probably stay until mathematically eliminated...

If Chelsea beats Man City @ Chelsea's home field it's a wrap, they would have pissed us off for nothing.
a wrap?

I see the point. But there are 2.5 good teams this year. Chelsea, Man City and depending on the weekend, Southampton or Man U

I'm no City fan but the title challenge is nowhere near over yet. Still plenty to play for. Way too early to be calling anything.

It's not that fair to compare last year's Chelsea to this squad with Costa and Fabregas leading the line, also Matic's first full season, those three players are the backbone of this team and they weren't here last year with the exception of Matic who arrived in January.

I wouldn't say it's a wrap, but if Chelsea beats them at the Bridge on the 31st, it's going to need a meltdown of epic proportions for Chelsea to give the title up.

City were 8 points behind United with 6 games to go in 2012, so 8 points with 15 games is not insurmountable. Although I think psychologically City need to win at Stamford Bridge to believe they can win it.

I agree with what you're saying.. but don't you think its hard to compare the current Chelsea team with the team that blew an 8 point lead seeing as the starting line up against City that year was: De Gea, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Anderson, Young, Rooney, Welbeck. Hardly one of the best teams in Europe.

Yeah, City don't need to win at Stamford Bridge, but they need a result. 5 points City can manage with a lot of season left and Chelsea having to juggle more and more fixtures with their rotation issues. 8 though is a tough ask, especially as City still have a number of unpleasant fixtures (and points to likely drop themselves) left on their schedule.

And City's side had Joleon Lescott, Gareth Barry, Micah Richards and Mario Balotelli in the starting XI.

I do see you point, and it would be a very tough ask to claw back 8 points, but MCFC are certainly not going to pack up and go home if they lose.
