There is clearly a lot to unpack this season so I didn't expect the first episode to reveal too much.
- Good to see that Arya is still working on her list.
- Euron is going after Tyrion? That can't end well for him.
- Knowing that it HAS to end badly for Euron, does that leave Cersei in control of the Greyjoy's armada?
- Who does Jon have to contend with first? White Walkers or Daenerys?

Really? They decided to spread the episode thin rather than develop any one aspect very far, which I think was fair. Besides the open, I though the Jon Snow pledge scene, the Hound scenes, Dany's return, and Sam's daily routine were solid, while the Cersei/Jamie scenes, the Greyjoy audience, Arya meeting the soldiers, were weak, with the Jon/Sansa material sort of in the middle. This was stage setting, and reminding us who's left after eliminating not just individuals but entire factions and families: the Freys, Sparrows, Boltons, Baratheons, Queen Margery and others in now ancillary storylines have been pruned. Last night pulled together in blatant exposition what's left, and I can accept it for one episode

I agree. I felt it was a great episode to start the new season. Did a good job encompassing the entire realm.
- I liked the scene with her around the campfire with Lannister soldiers - showed her that they're not all bad, which is good for them because I think she was going to kill them.
- What if it does end well for him?! this is GoT after all
- I wouldn't think the Greyjoy army would just back Cersei unless they absolutely have to
- Going by the name of the books, I think this season will be the battle against the White Walkers and the next season will be the battle of the throne - whoever is still alive
My thought when seeing this is "Maybe Arya now regrets killing them, after all they were following orders, what if they were mostly good people like these guys?"

I'm hyped for Jon to meet up with Daenerys.
I can't imagine Daenerys is going to be too thrilled to learn Jon is her nephew but with a "better" claim to the throne than she has, since his father was the crown prince and Jon's older than she is; the only caveat is he's a bastard but that didn't stop the North from rallying around him over Sansa. Gonna be fireworks at the first Targaryen family Thanksgiving.
That would make Ghost pretty damn jealous. Not that I think you're wrong, but the wolf is going to feel slighted so Jon better not be mad when he finds Ghost left him "presents" in his bed or chewed up his favorite pair of leather boots.
YouTubers say he's going after the Sand Snakes in Dorne.
That would make a lot of sense because the sand snakes murdered their daughter and they are longtime allies of the Targaryens. Plus I'm sure Cersi would like to have the Mountain torture the Sand Snakes as payback for the Oberyn Martell poisoning him. And most importantly, it's not the obvious prize viewers would think of (Tyrion, Daenerys, Sansa).
That makes a lot of sense, especially given how bad those characters turned out to be. Would eliminate them, and would explain why Dorne was mentioned in the opener.
Now, what is going to happen to Jorah Mormont?

What JB said, and he is going to do it with Sam. And Jorah, aka Azor Ahai*, is gonna end up saving the day from something he learned along the way to the Citadel.
