Game Of Thrones (spoilers)

adam adam must have an inside scoop... called a bunch. But, I can't let you get too cocky. The episode was set up as a big high school reunion to finally bring a bunch of the stories together, which can be tough. Decent "Welcome Back Class of XX" episode setting up for the next few.

I’ve just spent way too much time with this series.

huh... did you add the "JK" as an ETA? When I quoted your post I don't think it was there, or I somehow missed it.

My apologies!!!!

Personally, I really love all the parallels from Season 1 to now, and also how they go back to the art that Game of Thrones thrives in: Sly, spicy, mysterious, political conversations that intertwine and dig into the minutia of each and every character. Was done so, so well.
Honestly, I had forgotten that Daenerys killed Sam's family, and when that scene happened the way Sam's actor played it was so... incredibly well done, I was also crying.

ETA: adam adam you were spot on with them going to Last Hearth, and boy was that a scary scene.
Someone pointed this out on Reddit and it made me laugh so hard - that scene with Dany and Sam:

1:27 mark in case the timestamp doesn't stick to the link

I figured there was going to be at least some scene with Jorah talking to Lady Mormont, since she’s the defacto badass leader of House Mormont, but Jorah received a Pardon from Robert, so he should be the legitimate heir to Mormont as Jeor’s son. Just as he relinquished his house sword to Jon, he’d probably be humble and allow Lady Mormont to remain head, but it’d still be an interesting scene with him abdicating to the little badass.

I can’t put this in spoilers so I’m just assuming anyone that comes to this thread expects spoilers or has seen this episode already.

I think the spiral is just a symbol the White Walkers use. No real reason behind it aside from them just liking spiral design. Maybe Jon Snow just needs to make some fancy windmills to distract the white walkers and prevent them from attacking the living?

My buddy just sent me a pic of the guy sitting behind him on his flight back from Iceland..... The Mountain.

Won’t post the pic of them both since I wasn’t there and they may not want it online, but his left sleeve is a full arm dragon.

Is your friend flying first class? Or did the Mountain somehow fit in an airplane seat? Looks like he's about to rip up the chair in front of him just so his legs fit.

I can’t tell from the pic. The seats look “close” together (although the proportion is skewed with a guy over 7’ tall sitting there) with fancy leather with adjustable head rests, so maybe EconPlus? Then again, no idea what flights from Iceland are grouped as since they don’t need the flatbed 1st class and can have the old school 1st and is still short enough of a flight.

We already know that the children of the forest created the white walkers to fight the humans because they were butchering the children... But it got out of hand. So that's probably where the white walkers got the symbol from.

Theory... the war will be over by the 3rd episode. The remaining 3 will focus on who will win the throne.
White walkers are arriving in winterfell next episode. Don’t see them spending 5 episodes on that battle alone.

If you had to guess how each person will die, assuming that in different scenarios they all die, how would it happen?

Cersei - Stabbed by Jamie
Daenerys - Killed by Night King
Mountain (Gregor) - dies in dragon fire
Jon - betrayed by Sansa
Tyrion - skull bashed by Gregor
Night King - Arya’s new special weapon
Sansa - White Walkers

It'd be pretty anticlimactic for the show to spend 7+ seasons focused on the terror the white walkers bring to society for it to be over in a single battle at Winterfell, plus they just laid the groundwork for Winterell to fall with the Iron Islands being needed as a fallback area. Throw in that the very first scene of the show was of the whitewalkers taking out the Ranger team, and that was likely foreshadowing of the importance of the characters - I'd venture episode 5 is when that story line ends as the penultimate episode.

Sam is also going to rise up to kill somebody important, as he just reminded everybody he has the Tarly House (Valyrian steel) sword - he also was the first on the show to kill a white walker, so he could be the one to kill the last with the Night King. And as they pointed out, he's (jokingly) asked for a pardon (about stealing the books), which would make him the rightful heir (not beholden to the Night's Watch) to House Tarly with his brother and father killed.

With the Martells Tyrells gone, he’s also Warden of the South (which includes Oldtown). If Danny and John both die (no more targarians), Sam the Slayer has a legitimate claim to the Iron throne.

The prince that was promised.

Eta: also don’t forget Tyrian is (thought to be) a Targaryen via the mad King and his mom. So he’d also have to be offed.
