Ghost of Forum Past

Reputation does matter in this case. When you've done the things de Jong has in his career, it is natural and reasonable to conclude that he intended the result or, at minimum, didn't care about the obvious risk he was taking.

There is also a difference between a slide gone wrong and a stomp - with the later being less likely to be a play on the ball.

That said, Grabavoy should have gotten a red for that, and I will be surprised if he isn't given one retroactively.

Reputation should matter when you are deciding to sign him to a contract. Reputation should come into play if FIFA decides to ban him for lifetime achievement. For MLS deciding punishment based on these individual plays, it should not. They are both leg breakers, its just that Ned has the strength of a Frozen princess. Two footed, studs up, flying tackles are more dangerous than De Jong's stomp. De Jong just happened to catch Nagbe exactly wrong and stepped on his ankle.

Okay. Okay. JayH you're right. So ...

Ghosts of April 15
On the run up to our home and home against Philly.
6 points in 6 days. Sounds like a plan to me.
They are not worse than Colorado, so anything can happen.
I think if Kwame and Hernandez can can contain Aristeguieta then there is a very good chance of a win here.
9 points in 9 days. We play the Timbers 3 days later.
I see Khiry having a breakout game as a sub this week......... :):):)
Absolutely no reason why we can't win this.
I think we have to give KWS another look and shift Wingert out to the fullback spot. I'd like to see Calle get 30 minutes at wing in this game again.
Nemec is going to feast.
... and after the first Philly game (away).
Could it be that our midfield wouldn't look so inept if we had a certain DP#2?
Just finished watching the tape delay. What a fucking shit-show! I'm too fucking pissed right now to write anything else.
Backpass Brovsky is just killing us
Hey call me a crazy optimist or something but I think the beginning of summer is when to start having these "oh no we suck" conversations.
Early prognostications. Quite clairvoyant.
Lets not hold our breath waiting for Saint Lampard. (I am not, I don't look pretty when I turn blue) I have a feeling he is not coming and if he does he will be tired and burnout.
Calle for Nemec? As opposed to Poku? So, so, so many questionable strategic and tactical choices from Kreis.
I honestly dont see the need for Jacobson, Grabavoy, or Brovsky to start.
It may be time to face facts about Nemec, he isn't going to cut it.

Well, I said that a year ago and I feel like I could say the same thing *this* year!

But hey, at least you didn't quote the bit where I said Nemec might be able to turn it around and make us proud. Thanks!

On the stadium (could have been from a year ago or yesterday) ...
If they got kicked out and wound up at RBA, I'd still go watch them there.
Staying in Yankee stadium for an extended period would be the lesser of two evils between building anything in Jersey.
Its very hard to keep the thread on topic when the team really has no stadium plan.
The deliberate pace for a stadium has everything to do with getting it right and how important that is.
We have no idea what's going on behind the scenes and what leads they are chasing and discussing, so you can't accurately suggest that there is no movement.
my question is, how has this thread has lasted 98 pages, yet we've covered almost every possible place to put this damn stadium. and theres no advancement on it.
95% of this thread is people not reading at least the first few pages and repeating the same unrealistic ideas 97878668585&4 times.
making a SSS in pier 40 is an orignnal idea ;)
Can we get an ignore thread option? I don't know why I keep clicking here, but I can't stop. I have a problem.
On GAL ...
Can someone clear the air on why the Bronx deal fell through? It's so confusing
Here is an article, almost a year old. This certainly sounds like they are open to relocation, and leaves me to think this site will indeed be the place we call home!
It absolutely has to be in the Bronx
The stadium needs to be next to Yankee Stadium.
Amusing phrases ...
Not sure if this has been mentioned (92 page thread)
No I am not insane
Going off topic a tad...
Speaking out of ignorance, but
And then there's this ...
Jacobson is awesome

Can someone who is better with the forum search figure out who wanted to try Nemec at CB last year? I've been dying to see that pop up on this thread.

Fascinating that "Nemec at center" doesn't pull that result. Thanks!
It's similar to google search. Just use keywords. In that case Nemec centerback brings it up. If it was Nemec at center back then it likely would have brought it up.
At, of, the etc are not going to be applicable.

NEW YORK -- Manchester City coach Patrick Vieira says that Andrea Pirlo would be a wonderful signing for New York City FC if the Italian chooses to continue his career in America.

Pirlo, 36,
has been linked with a move to NYCFC, with reports suggesting that he is close to completing a move after he was seen watching a Yankees baseball game at the weekend.

NYCFC are the sister club of Man City, as they are both owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, of the Abu Dhabi United Group, and although head coach Jason Kreis already has Spanish star David Villa at his disposal, Vieira believes that the addition of Pirlo would be excellent for the both the club and MLS.

"If NYCFC manages to sign a player like Pirlo, it would be fantastic because we're talking about a player who is one of the greatest of the last 20 years," he told ESPN FC at an event for Western Union's PASS initiative.

"He's won the Champions League, he's won the World Cup. He played on the biggest teams in Italy. He would be a fantastic example I think and a good professional, he's a good person. I think we have to just wait and see what's going to happen."

City previously signed Frank Lampard on a one-year contract ahead of his move to NYCFC on July 8 and have also loaned Spanish left-back Jose Angel Tasende (known as Angelino) to the club for next season.

Shay Facey has also benefited from the relationship between the two clubs as he spent time on loan this season, while Vieira believes the agreement will be good for City's young players.

Andrea Pirlo would bring a lot of experience to New York.
"We have a good relationship with the coaches here (in New York)," he said. "Jason came to Manchester and saw the way that we're working. He knows the young players very well. Claudio [Reyna] watches our games and also knows the young players. So they know what they can expect and as you can see, it's been working well.

"We had Shay Facey here, we have Angelino coming soon and I think that's good. They still need a lot of work in terms of their development and I think with Jason, they are in the right place."

City could loan even more young players to NYCFC in the future, but Vieira admits that he is leaving the decisions over who moves to Kreis and his staff.

"Jason will be the one who makes the decision, he knows his team better than I do," he added. "He knows the players that he needs. He has Shay and Angelino, he will be the one who puts the names on the table and we'll talk about it. Because he knows them [NYCFC] and he's watching their games every week."

No MOTM. Horrendous performance. Horrendous tactics and coaching. Why you entirely stop attacking after going up a goal is beyond me.

It was 80 minutes of boot the ball forward to the shortest player on the field.
Im starting a Poku Need To Start petition.

Pirlo and Lampard came out on the field at the end of warmups for a photo op and to greet the team as they left the field. They are officially in the house.

Unless he [Pirlo] has this strong overpowering desire to live/play in NYC...who the hell would go from winning his league, playing 90+ in the CL final and being a legend amongst his peers, basically a god in his country...to playing for this uninspiring junk. Maybe he needs a huge challenge in his life right now..if that's the case, welcome aboard.

I completely agree with you. I support NYCFC because it is a New York not New Jersey team, if they put a stadium in New Jersey I would drop my season tickets in a heartbeat.

I'd still support the team, but I'd probably change from going to every single home game to going once a season... maybe.
