Home - 03/15 New England Revolution

Jones and Nguyen are not playing tonight versus Seattle. I hope they miss another week. Does anyone know when they are expected to return?
Not sure but I sure as hell hope they are out, especially after watching them right now

Would love to get 3 points here. Home debut and all, I want to see Villa get a goal as well! As for Nguyen/Jones, I don't know about Jones but Nguyen was listed as questionable for this week's game so you'd think he would be ready to play by next week.

Jones I think is out a while. Nguyen traveled with the team and may have come on as a late sub if tonight was closer, so we'll probably see him next week.

Damn, if Jones and Nguyen were out, we'd stand a good chance next week. We still have a good shot but we're going to have to be better than we were today.

I think Shelton needs to start, our midfield is way too thin when Ballouchy and Grabavoy were in there which gave our attack issues, Shelton came in and provided some pace and width which helped to get our first goal.

With a 3-0 spanking, New England will be ready this Sunday even if Jones cannot play. The Midnight Riders are known to travel well (they have even been louder than ESC at Red Bull Arena at times) so the Third Rail has no time for a dry run / dress rehearsal on 3/15; the Third Rail -- all NYCFC fans at Yankee Stadium -- must give NYCFC "home advantage" this coming Sunday!

It would be awesome if the team played in the black jerseys for this match.

Without Jones they like the bite in the midfield. They got clobbered by Seattle tonight so I am not sure if that fires them up or makes them wounded for next week. I still say they have a weak link in the defense with AJ Soares gone. Villa might be able to take advantage of this.

Mix vs Jones would have been epic.

Its early, but my lineup for sunday is:
Code:
-------------Saunders-----------
------Facey-------Hernandez---
Williams-----------------Wingert---
-------------Poku-Jacobson--------
----Mix-------------------Calle------
-------Shelton-------Villa

Brovsky needs a lot of work on defense, Grabavoy is too easily pushed off the ball, Ballouchy has few good ideas on the ball, Shelton has just played too well to sit, and I don;t like him as a midfielder.

I haven't seen , Shay, Poku or Javier play yet but willing to give this lineup a shot.

Nemec and Ballouchy did not have strong games yesterday but we can all have an off day now and then. (Grabavoy has been a solid MLSer through the years and I did not watch him that closely yesterday.)

Kreis hasn't been willing to give Calle a full 90 yet, right? I wonder if he's still working on his conditioning after being a late preseason add.

Without Nguyen, I would be interested to see them try out Mix at the bottom of the diamond. His pass accuracy last game was on point, he could run the show from that spot.

Villa, Shelton
Velasquez
Jacobson, Grabavoy
Mix
Wingert, Hernandez, Facey, Williams

We could go a lot of different ways though. Might see different lineups each game for 4-5 games until we settle in.

I'm nervous about Shelton getting a starting spot. He seems like a prime super-sub to me: burst of rookie energy off the bench but a guy that would fizzle over 90 minutes.

As long as Brovsky and Ballouchy don't make the starting XI, I'm happy. They were awful yesterday.

In all probability that's exactly what's going to take place.

Five pre-season games isn't really a helluva lot of time for guys who were just introduced to each other to gel. Another 4-5 should be enough time for things to shake out.

For Sunday this is my Starting XI. Brovsky out and Wingert slides over to LB. Facey will slide into that CB spot alongside Hernandez who had a pretty strong game. Ballouchy out and Shelton in out wide. Nemec will be subbed off for Mullins/Taylor at some point in the 2nd half and possibly Calle coming on for more than 5 minutes like last game against Orlando

This will give us a much better indication of where we stand at the moment. NE will be one of the top teams in the East this season. Wish I could make it to the game :(

I expect Nguyen to be there, just Soares (perm gone) and Jones will be out.

Who did NE start at centerback on Sunday?
