NYCFC lost 2 games at home last year - one of them was a 2-1 loss to Orlando, as others have noted, NYCFC dominated the game but Orlando got two goals on crosses to Larin, against the run of play.

I’m so happy he is gone. For some reason Orlando seems to get extremely lucky against NYCFC - I am sure that NYCFC’s record against Orlando is worse than any other team. Maddening.

Orlando spent a crapload to overhaul their roster, let’s hope that pieces aren’t together yet plus NYCFC dominates the midfield and finishes several early chances to see this one out comfortably.

I still have flashbacks to that awful game where Villa's slip on the penalty spot completely deflated the team, and a 2-0 lead promptly became a 2-2 draw.

NYC is 0-3-0 against RSL (0.0 PPG), and 0-1-2 against Dallas (0.67 PPG). Orlando is next up at 2-5-2 (0.89). To be fair, it might not make much sense to compare the 9 games against Orlando to any West team.

Is this finally the year we earn a point versus RSL? Now that Wednesday night on 4/11 has so much more significance besides being my first home match of the season.

From what I remember, last years game at RSL was in the middle of a brutal road trip and the reserves started and it was a 2-1 loss after Okoli scored in the first minute.

Two years ago I think it was a classic smash and grab, I think they won 3-2 on an own goal and 2 total shots on goal.

Time to get that first win against RSL.

We're home against both RSL and Dallas. RSL look in shambles right now and we play them a month away. It's a Wednesday game but our prior game is 10 days from this one. That being said, our next game is Sunday vs. Atlanta in Atlanta. I think if they don't find their form quickly, we get three points vs. RSL. Dallas is not 2016 Dallas and I think we also get a win against them. Funny enough, after Orlando at home, our next home games are RSL and then Dallas.

Atlanta doesn't have a midweek game like us that week. Their prior game is vs. LAFC (home), the prior Saturday.

Furthers my point. Our best chances are the two bookend matches. Away to ATL with short rest and they have a week and no travel is a tough draw.

I think we need to change our mentality though. Rotating this group doesn't even mean putting our B team on the field, because guys like Tajouri-Shradi, Lewis, Ofori, Hountondji, SAS are all good enough to start on the vast majority of teams in MLS. I think you rotate a couple of those guys in for each of those three matches, and I'm really not sure how much you're missing.

My point is that we should rotate one or two players in for each match, and even if we do have a heavily-rotated squad for Atlanta, we should still expect the team to be competitive. It won't be like the past when a rotated squad meant the TV should be turned off.

Get 3 points from RSL and play the backups vs Atlanta. You can't drop those points at home.

The Portland match is independent of the RSL/ATL matches from a lineup perspective. So the focus should be on winning against RSL at home with our top choice lineup. Guys who are good to go another 90 in Atlanta go, those who are not should sit.
Portland, being a week removed from Atlanta should have a first choice squad regardless of what we do in the first two.

If we're playing a B team against anyone it should be Atlanta because we can't afford to let them won a six pointer. The good thing is that we don't need to, just plug out and plug in 2 different guys each match.

Vieira should start guys like Tajouri, Hountondji, SAS, Ofori and Lewis against Atlanta to show him if they deserve starting spots. Not necessary to swap out the whole team, but give some of the fringe guys time to play with starters.

That's true, all 4 or 5 the same game would be problematic. Maybe sub 2 in the game vs. RSL, then another 3 in the game vs. Atlanta. Keeps most of the spine together, but also allows for a handful/couple/few players to get more experience than just being 80th or 85th minute subs.
