There's no way they could get a playable surface into the Stadium for February 26 without significant expense, above and beyond the already significant expense just to turn the lights on and bring security in, etc.
Yeah, I think the playing surface is the far bigger issue than turning the water back on and winterizing the pipes, etc. But they usually have a really crappy surface as it is for our March games, the field doesn't look that good until the Yankees season starts. So it stands to reason it would have been really difficult, even if it's only a 3-week difference.
