Is It Stupid For The Team To Still Tweet About Man City?

Everybody knows who owns the team. But are they stupid/naïve to still tweet about Man City? Is it going to stop when the team eventually plays games?
Can any of the supporters get to management to tell them it pisses off a lot of fans who don't support City?
Or will it lead to people just giving up on the team?

Thoughts?

They clearly want the relationship between the two teams to be obvious, which is unfortunate as it is driving away fans.

They have been keeping it to a minimum lately, they seem to they seem to be starting to understand New York's apathy towards Manchester.

They still made a tweet about Aguero scoring last night. To me it is stupid. When Soriano comes over and there is a chance for supporters to finally have a meeting with upper management this needs to be put to them how damaging this is if it continues.
Do they think New Yorkers don't know about football and don't support other teams? Or do they expect everybody will just suck it up because they are fortunate to have a local team at all?
The Third Rail or other groups need to make this a topic of discussion when meetings with upper management take place, or it will lead to more fans not being interested IMO.

We had a meeting last May and most of what he said at the Q&A was half truths and corporate fluff. Oh and a few lies as well. Don't bother.

Are you then just going to live with it, or does this make you feel uneasy? (Not judging).
I feel if you are on the fence about supporting this team, things like this will make you stay away.

If you are looking for a sport front office to feel sympathetic to your being upset about their synergistic marketing, you are going to be disappointed.

I don't care what they tweet and don't tweet, im not monitoring their PR/marketing campaigns. I just want to see a good product on the field when I show up 17 times this season. Outside of that I could careless what else the team does.

I didn't see this. Does anyone have a screenshot?

In general, I get it because we do have a player we're about to acquire there. I would understand if LAG tweeted about good things Gerrard did to keep their fans in the know.

I'm all for tweeting if they win a title or to announce a friendly against us in the states but the we got the guys together in a room "cheering you on" just reeks of EDS cheering the first team on. However the mothership did promote the hell out of our friendlies so I guess I just want it to be smarter.
I'd like for Soriano to get cooked about the branding and how he lied to us at Legends though.

They only tweeted a pic of the team watching champions league in the hotel. Then the official champions league account asked what they thought of the action and NYC responded about the team enjoying the great Aguero goal. I don't see what the big deal is

Yeah, that's not a big deal.

And like was said, MCFC has been pushing the heck out of NYCFC: pushing to fill the stands for our friendlies, making a bunch of videos promoting NYCFC stars Villa w/ Aguero as well as the Poku/Yaya video. So it hasn't been like NYCFC is stuck serving its master's glory; there's been a real effort by MCFC to get its fans interested in NYCFC and MLS.

Here's my opinion for what its worth:This relationship seems to be pretty important to the FO, CFG and the supporters of those clubs. When I joined, I never imagined that there would be so many people from outside the United States showing support, both from within CFG and outside. MCFC supporting their "sister club" in Melbourne sounds out of the ordinary for me and I don't really follow EPL or Australian football so I'm not interested but if one of our players gets sent over there who knows. I know we want our own identity but I'm not sure that part of it will ever change. They spent huge money to get this going and I'm sure they want maximum exposure for it.

HOWEVER, on another note here in MLS. AEG owns multiple teams in LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo and there is never any mention with that within the Dyanamo community. We also see which one is the favorite son and which one is treated like Cinderella when it comes to spending money on players. Houston played at U of H for 6-7 years before getting a SSS. It's just different here that's all.

CFG cross-promoting all their brands / properties is just good business. It'd be a waste of free marketing for any of their teams to NOT mention each other.
Supporting NYCFC doesn't require that you also support Man City.

The only MC-related tweet that bothered me was the one about Lampard's goal on Jan 1 the day after they announced he was staying at MCFC. It showed just how stuck on stupid they were. But the rest of it is fine, especially where they are in the form of wishing congrats or good luck to sister teams. It's mildly more annoying on occasion when the tweet seems to assume we're all rooting for MC when many of us in fact root for their opponents,* but even that's small potatoes.

* And by this I mean actively rooting for specific opponents and rivals and not just rooting for whoever's playing MCFC.
