Jason Kreis

Fair point, though leading this team in assists is sort of a "tallest midget" mark of distinction. Personally I just don't see that Grabavoy has the physical qualities to compete for a full game. His passing is decent but it's hard to miss that the play frequently breaks down when he gets involved. And his assists weren't killer passes, he left Ballouchy and Villa with a lot of work to do.

Not sure what the exact topic of this thread is, but if it's Kreis's selection, he is going with what he knows and sees at training. My guess is if McNamara, Velasquez or Dunn or even Poku were dominate over Jacobsen or Grabavoy then they would start over those guys. As I mentioned earlier, I would love to see Kreis play all the guys everyone seems to be screaming for and see what happens. If they perform great, problem solved. My opinion is that there is a reason some of these MLS vets are playing.

But that reason isn't necessarily quality. Anyone who's worked in a team setting knows that the people who get promoted aren't necessarily the highest performers. Personal relationships and other intangibles affect how performance is perceived. To me it seems like Kreis isn't making reasonable judgments about on-pitch performances, and is favoring a core group of ex-RSL veterans to the exclusion of more effective players.

You do realize that Kreis traded or get rid of Saunders and Ballouchy? He benched Velasquez and barely used Watson at RSL. So the grand RSL only conspiracy really comes down to Wingert and Grabavoy. Are 2 of the starting 11 really the explaination for the problems of this team? I'll continue to argue that things would be worse without those two.

No the problems are far more complicated than just a Kreis hardon for his old buddies. Nemec? Jacobson? Hernandez? Williams? Villa? Will Poku, Dunn, McNamara and liberal uses of Shelton and Mullins etc going to save this team?

It's not a conspiracy theory. He brought in a lot of ex-RSL players and seems to favor them despite persistent mediocrity on the field. I don't think Wingert is playing poorly but the fact Grabavoy, KWS etc. are automatic starters is surreal. They're awful players, and the team hasn't won in 2 months. So his refusal to change things raises questions about his competence and his ability to control the dynamic in the dressing room. It also undermines the motivation of the other players when selections aren't being made on the basis of performance.

The results speak for themselves, performances are getting worse not better, and most people who follow the team are in agreement about where the problems are. Changes need to be made in the side and if Kreis doesn't have the ability to look beyond personal connections and do that, he needs to go.

Well said.

Not JK related, but @Traction Engine . Are you a Denmark / Sweden fan? or having fun making Italians feel bad? Hard to believe that game in your profile pic was 11 years ago already.

I follow Norway in the European competitions, as I studied abroad in Bergen and think it's a great country, but basically I just hated that Italy team and thought the result was really funny.

It is hard to believe so much time has passed. I had just graduated high school and spent every day watching the games with my friends, I remember a lot of the games perfectly. It was a great tournament, although I'm still a little bothered the Czechs didn't take it.

As a full blooded Italian all I can say about that is fuck Sweden and Denmark.

Watson doesn't automatically start, although he might have to with Mendoza gone, John and Hernandez injured, only Facey gives us any depth.

Your still missing the point. Your obsession with blaming kreis and his RSL boys is unfounded. 8-9 starters aren't his RSL boys.

2004? Bro...

When your captain comes out and says you have hit rock bottom and you yank your best players in a comeback attempt in the last game, shouldn't the manager have, possibly, perhaps, maybe given a few words to the fans this week? Or is it still we need to get a few bounces, I am pleased with the performances, and can't sleep?

His remarks on the last game are just delusional.

Serious question: If NYCFC keeps losing and showing no improvement, how long until Kreis gets shit-canned? My guess is they keep him the entire season no matter, so they don't look like the mess that they actual are.

Hes too busy checking wind forecasts for the chicago game, like any good coach would do. How could he be held accountable if the wind is not in our favor? Lucky bounces are what any coach and team strive for. Gameplay is secondary.
