Khiry Shelton [Forward]

i wouldnt say "controls the game" but he definitely gives us a different option with his speed and strength.

Mmm idk man, he really changes the attack when in, with both his actual play and the way that defenders recognize his athleticism. When he is in the game, our momentum is a lot different. His play just hasn't led to any goals yet, but I think it will very soon. Problem is, we're just pretty good up front! I would love to see him and Nemec up front together

He has speed and definitely swings momentum when he comes in. We had 2.5 more scoring chances with him in the ORL game in his less than 30 minutes. Comes in the Revs game and draws a red card <3.

Saw Roldan out in Seattle for literally about 2 seconds last week. Nothing special.

I think Orlando has the other star kid, Cyle Larin. Haven't heard a damn thing about him.

But Shelton....Kreis knows how to pick them.

I have heard that Orlando will either transfer Cyle to Louisville or trade him to Montreal (perhaps another Canadian club); the reason is... Orlando has a couple of young DP type forwards on its roster and didn't get the compensation they were looking for to trade the number 1 pick.

Re Shelton, I love his game and the change of pace he brings. It's a long season for rookies and giving him significant minutes off the bench is fine by me; don't feel the need to push him into a starting role unless Jason Kreis feels he is ready for it.

The word at the time of the draft was Shelton was the pro ready prospect, Larin and Roldan needed time.

Has done very well when he has come on. I think JK is doing the right thing by bringing him on from the bench. Gives us that other dimension and is very dangerous against tiring players. His run from Saunders goal kick was perfect and drew the foul that led to a deserved red card.

Also gives the rookie some time to earn the time. He'll be a starter someday.

Yep I definitely think he will become a starter in time.
This is my first post and as my first post im going to make a huge statement. This kid WILL start very soon either as a winger because of his speed or a center forward because of his sheer size and skill on the ball. He needs some experience and I noticed some laziness away from the ball against new england but I think this kid COULD be rookie of the year if he gets playing time. To be honest I dont find nemec all that impressive so this may happen sooner than later.

Shelton does more in his cameos than Nemec has done in his starts but I'm not sure if it's a question of just replacing Nemec with Shelton. I think a key with Shelton is his impact off the bench. Some players are better use coming off the bench. I haven't seen him start yet, but so far that seems to be working, so why change it. Although I do think we need to replace Nemec as a starter, I'm not sure Khiry should be the one to displace him.

I also want to add that at the meet and greet yesterday he was probably the nicest and most genuine out of all the players. Really seemed like he wanted to be there interacting with fans, even if he was shy. I assume he isn't 'sick' of the fame like the seasoned professionals are, but it was really great to see.

Why not Mullins instead of Nemec?

The only thing I can think of is that JK WANTS the young guys to sit and watch and learn.

That would work probably! I haven't really thought too much about who should replace Nemec, as I havent seen any of the players, bar Villa, play even once other than the pre season and these first two games. I just saw a few people say that Khiry should be in for Nemec, and from what I've seen, even though Khiry has contributed more, I don't think its the best idea to stick him up there.

Like you say, Mullins could be the answer and he looked real good yesterday, but that's all I've ever seen him play really so I can't say for sure. I just think that somebody should replace Nemec sooner than later. You think Mullins could do it? I honestly don't think he could play worse than Nemec has played, even if he can't do the exact same job.

I also said before that if I were a coach I would slowly introduce young players I'm unsure of and allow them the win a spot, instead of throwing them in and possibly losing their spot which could hamper confidence/development. Playing it safe usually helps.

Agree 100%. I believe nemec will get more chances to prove himself as lampard enters the picture as lampard will step into that distributing midfielder role. But mullins and villa are obviously the best choices up top. I still think khiry would fit in an attacking winger role because of his speed, im just uncertain of his crossing skills. But having pace and size like shelton possesses, its a shame to see 60 minutes pass before calling his number

minus the (maybe two) chances nemec shouldve scored, he had a fine game. did everything a target man is supposed to do.

this allowed khiry a lot more space and he was even put through by one or two of them if i remember correctly... he won possession in their half, kept possession and contributed to our attack.

That's awesome. He deserves it. If he keeps up the hard work I think he can be rookie of the year.
