I'm not sure I have a huge problem with this. If the MLS rules don't make a team reveal the extent of an injury, unlike, say, the NFL, then why let the rest of the league know how bad it might have been? A lot of people have been pissed off by this, but as long as the rules don't make them reveal specific info it's to our advantage to play it as close to the vest as we can. As fans we want to know everything of course, but sometimes it might not be the best thing.

I tend to agree. Teams spend half their time practicing how to counter their opponents before each game, and a fundamental part of tactical thinking is working out who you are going to be facing. In order to make life harder for your opponent, it is therefore fairly standard to give as little out about injuries as possible.

If you listen to managers at the top level in Europe talking about injuries (I don't have enough knowledge of MLS to say if the same applies, though it sounds like it probably doesn't) then half of the time if they give an estimate of when a player will be back it will be deliberately wrong, because they want their opponents to either have to spend time planning how to counter a player who won't even be on the pitch, or because they want their opponents to believe the player won't be there, so that they are confused by his sudden appearance.

It's the same thing as with team sheets. 20 years ago, managers used to announce their full 11-man starting line-up in their press conferences, 48 hours before a game. Then they realised that their opponents were neutralising them too easily. These days, team sheets are only submitted to the referee in person, at the game, with barely an hour to go until kick-off, when it's too late for your opponent to exploit the knowledge.

I'm not saying I think CFG do the right thing in their communications, because it's pretty clear they are terrible communicators, but I'm not going to criticise them for not telling the fans how injured players are because, in this respect at least, team confidentiality comes before supporter relations.

I'm truly just ready to move on from everything other than the wins over the last 18 months. Hopefully, Sunday starts a new winning streak and we continue to stay in the playoff picture. Too much criticism of the club, players, etc., and dissecting each and every quote and issue makes it dull and is begging for negativity. I'm really pining until we get back to talk about the lineups, breaking down matches, talking Copa America and tracking our opponents again instead of dwelling on what's happened since we can't go back and change it. Bad mentality.

i dont care that hes scored 3 goals in 10 games and is technically more efficient than all of our midfielders. the fact that he's played 10 games in a season and a half is absurd.
if he's hurt...ok i get it, shit happens. but when you make him a poster boy for the team and hes never anywhere to be found, not even on gameday... then he takes an analyzing job for sky sports when hes magically fit to play, somethings up.

The Supporters need to come up with a song for Frank to the tune of Super Freak by Rick James.

He's a very Super Frank
From his head down to his toenails
And he will never let your spirits down
If you can get him on the pitch

He is Super Frank!
Super Frank!
He's Super Frankie now!

Damn, 8:09 in the morning is early for that kind of drinking.

That is wayyyy too positive.

Blimey! Don't these dumb Yanks know what injuries are? It was me calf all along, and a bit of commentating, but give me a pass gov'nah! Don't they know who I am?

Tiny voice who hasn't learned you don't tell fans what opinion to have: yeah! Don't they know who you are mate! How can you boo a legend!

I can understand the booing from anyone at the NJ game. It is the most effective way for the team to hear our displeasure. If I was there I would have joined in with the boos.

To a lesser extent, I can understand the boos at the Orlando game.

But from now on, I don't think there should be any boos. My main problem with Lampard is the public relations fiasco that has plagued the club from his signing. I am blaiming both the club and Lampard for this. But at the end of the day, he's playing for us now, he is on the field with the other 10.

As a person, I think he's a douche for what he did to us. But as a player, I think he has a tremendous amount to contribute, and that is what I am focusing on.

I feel like if anyone still wants to boo, instead make a big sign that says:

The boos aren't for the injury
The boos are for Jan-Jul 2015
The boos are for Frank and CFG
Yeah some of us are still angry about that

Short of that, you're just spewing anger at your home team.

You people are right. I was wrong. I will now worship the ground Fat Frank walks on because of his accomplishments at Chelsea, the 3 Lions and Man City. Not on his association with NYCFC.
We'll see when he finally stops keeping our 3rd DP spot hostage and we can look back to see if the highest paid player on the team was worth the money. Until then treat him just like David Villa because he's on our roster.

Well I'm glad you've finally come to your senses! :D

I'm not asking anyone to worship the ground he walks on, but his accomplishments at Chelsea and with England are extensive. If we can get even some of that for the rest of this year now that he's back that'd be good at least in my book. Would I have him back next year? Probably not, but if he's extraordinary this year and propels us into the playoffs, well, then maybe I would.

It's true that he's not given the team what we were expecting so far, but if he's fully healed and comes back to tear up the league by scoring 15 goals this year are you really going to still be railing against him? Honest question.

No I won't. But I haven't seen anything that indicates he's going to do that. You're expecting a 37 oft injured midfielder to score 15 goals after missing 1/3 of the season. If Frank is 32-34 I'm less pissed because he still has time to possibly turn it around like Beckham. This guy is done. Used up the last of his body at Man City and feigns not understanding why some fans are pissed.

OK, I can certainly live with this. You think he's done, I don't, and I'm OK with disagreeing on that. I hope I'm right though, but it's certainly possible that you'll be the one who's right.

My whole problem with the Lampard Hate Thing is that to me it sometimes feels people would rather he do horribly this year to prove a point rather than to have him do well and help the team. I'm not honestly expecting him to get 15 goals as that's somewhat of a high number (that I picked purposely for that reason) but hey, I'd certainly be happy with 10, say, along with a pile of assists. I think he can still do it, and I hope he does.

I don't care if people are pissed at the guy. I get it, believe me. I am just asking people to be pragmatic and do what's going to most help the team this season. I believe that's avoiding booing any player who is on the pitch, and to swallow hard and root for Lampard to at least play well when he is out there, knowing that his time is limited regardless.

If Frank Lampard is seriously bothered by people not liking him and thinking he's shit, I'm not sure how he survived in the Premier League for as long as he did.
