Lampard To Nycfc

He isn't John Terry

Sometimes, we have to take our victories wherever we can find them. ;)

I fully understand that internet forums are largely a platform for people to bitch and moan. I'm just trying to express a dissenting opinion and make it clear to any guests viewers we might having that not all Americans or NYCFC supporters feel strongly opposed to Lampard and that I in fact guess it's a vocal minority .

If you look back at the thread, there was like a week where some of us bitched about it. It wasn't some crusade. The rest of the bitching, and it's more widespread if not a majority, is about the fact that people think he's well past his expiration date to be the most effective option for a club with NYCFC's ambition and in a league as physically demanding as MLS.

There aren't many midfielders in MLS who can get by without a killer work rate, and it would be practically unheard of for a club to be able to play two such MF players at the same time. Since I rate Xavi as the far better fit for the tactics I expect we'll see, I would rather spend the DP slot on another player.

If he's not going to be a DP, then that changes the calculus entirely.

I'm pretty new to the MLS scene and I'm seriously wondering how that would even be possible. Lampard would have to accept a HUGE cut in his previous wages to come in as a non-DP, right? I'd imagine that there must be some other club somewhere in the world offering him a stupid amount of money.

Yep. It would rely on him rejecting the pay cheque to buy into "the project" instead. Unlikely, though possible I guess.

Come to the player announcement( Most likely Frank Lampard) at Brooklyn Bridge Park at 10:30 am tomorrow. Kreis and Reyna will be there. Should be fun!!

We need to go out there in numbers because the paranoid conspiracy theorist in me has a feeling that cows and cockroaches fans might try to ruin it.

The guy is a legend and can still play. Don't undervalue how good the EPL is and don't overvalue how good MLS is.

I don't think there is any danger of my doing either. ;)

But his legs have already started to go and, unlike Xavi, his movement was more important to his ability to dictate midfield play. Not to mention he will be 7 or 8 months older by the time we begin play.

That said, I will support him and hope we can get the best out of him.

Bah humbug

I want nothing from you; I ask nothing of you; why cannot we be friends?
