Mike Petke Fired

Red Bull executives were probably angry at being upstaged for negative publicity recently so decided to get some action for themselves. I guess they want to try and top NYCFC in all respects but who knew that also included the category of making asinine decisions. I'm no expert on Petke but onceametro.com describes the decision as "insane" and by other accounts taken by the newly appointed sporting director.

I'm thinking it may be tied to his rift with Cahill, who at the moment is their marquee player. Cahill's priority last year was international play, even missing a key end of season match for an Australia friendly

They are incensed at the decision. Page 1 has a particularly sarcastic comment about recent events at NYCFC...

Another article pointing out the "less than popular" decisions in the past...

NYCFC executives must be thrilled over this. They have probably been thinking of ways to respond to the negativity and now Red Bulls have taken a large chunk of it for themselves. Seriously how stupid must the executives at RB be? You would have thought this would have been the ideal time for them to avoid any kind of negativity. Nick Chavez thinks Petke is the bigger blunder (though less newsworthy) its almost like RB executives have a fetish for unpopularity.

Once again its started rumors of RB being sold a possibility which I've commented on in the past. Its worth pointing that out because there's going to be more comparison between both sets of owners now. Well I said before NYCFC have far better owners and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah, really don't think this was planned.

Well, the offseason has been anything but boring. :D

Interesting links. LOL stuff from the guy who actually thinks MLS is behind this firing to get Red Bull fans pissed off enough to dump their season tickets and jump ship to NYCFC. Gold, Jerry, gold!

A couple guys think this might be a sign that Red Bull is actually getting ready to sell the team. So what would be funnier, Red Bull being bought out by the Cosmos or Manchester United?

ManU - that would be wild!

I really doubt MLS would allow United to buy RB. I doubt United would be interested.
