Reminds me of 2021!no oneil, no perea, possibly no martinez. cards are seem to be stacking against us for this one.
People forget just how bad of a position we were going into the ECF that year because of the wild Philly drama.

Taty was suspended for the double yellow card in the earlier match at New England...Reminds me of 2021!

Did he tear his ACL?Devastating news on Alonso. Going to need something truly special to get the win in Philly.

Fuck turf fuck it fuck it fuck it to the end of the fucking earth
Other MLS fans forget how we were missing Parks and Tinnerholm especially, but I think it's a deep well remembered part of club lore for NYCFC fans. But that team was deeper than this one, and Philly was down almost their entire starting lineup, and at least we got Taty back for Portland. I now have zero expectations for this Philly game, will be elated if we win anyway, and winning out would be extraordinary.People forget just how bad of a position we were going into the ECF that year because of the wild Philly drama.
with how much Pascal has raved about and given chances to the kids, it wouldn't surprise me to see him give Reid the start and keep the rest of the attacking group as it was.
I agree with you that I think this is our best available lineup for next weekend, but I just have a weird feeling Pascal will give the start to Reid.
We lost players due to injury in 2021 as well. 3 big players for us... not much different from now. The only difference is philly is at full strength this time.
If we get past philly, i will be very proud of this team and jansen will have coached a master class in tactical play.
I will choose to believe we can still make a run at the cup. The kids are gonna shine and step up.
We absolutely can still win. Maxi needs to have another game like he had in Game 3 against Charlotte and Nico needs to be a DP. Our defense is still going to be good. Our midfield may be overwhelmed with Haak and Shore, which might play into their press. That scares me more than the attack. I think our front-4 can still produce, it's the midfield not being able to progress the ball and we get pressed into turnovers that has me worried.
But yes, the similarities to 2021 are striking. Tinnerholm suffered a season-ending injury before the playoffs. Parks had a blood clot issue that caused him to miss the postseason. And of course Taty with his suspension for the conference final. That team overcame an incredible amount. I don't think this team is as good as that one, but why can't we go into Philly and win? It would be surprising, but not shocking.

It's not over til it's over, right?
I'm all for hope. I'm also for realism at the same time.
Of the remaining teams NYC ranks:
Last in goals scored
7th in goals allowed
Last in goal differential.
6th xGoal differential
6th Goals+ differential
6th in wins
Most losses
Fewest points won
Plus of course no team has won the Cup from below 4th place (or below 8th on a combined table year) ever. Some team some day will be the first, but it would be astonishing if the first team to do so was without its leading scorer for the final 3 playoff rounds.

Where’s the Mark from the Rangers Stanley Cup run last year? Why not us?!I'm all for hope. I'm also for realism at the same time.
