MLS Cup Playoffs - October 30 - Philadelphia (Away)

MLS (and really, soccer leagues as a whole) is the only league in North America that allots away supporter tickets for matches, and it’s awesome. MLS certainly has a lot of room for growth, but that sort of experience going to away matches (especially the final of your league) is unparalleled. Hoping we get to do it again in a couple weeks.
I think North American soccer still has a learning curve ahead of it. Fan growth has to increase (increasing traveling support) and lessons need to be a learned since our geography is so much larger than European leagues (it’s a lot harder to travel from DC to Dallas than London to Liverpool). Maybe allot a larger % of tickets based on geography. 5% (~1,000 tickets) for lets say Portland/Seattle or NYC/NJ/PHI. But maybe the 200 is good number for MIN/MIA. There also should be different alotments for playoff/cup matches. I’m sure they are taking notice, learning and will figure it out.

Their two big losses last year were Bedoya and Blake. That's highly significant, but then again, so was our missing Taty, Tinnerholm and Parks.

They would argue that Elliot belongs on the list. Most Philly fans think they have the best CB pairing in the league and they rate Elliot the way we looked at pre-injury Timmerholm. I believe they wildly overrate their CBs because they spent so many years parking the bus they think low scoring games = great CBs. As someone that lives in Philly and has an NYCFC hat on most of the time I'm out I'm just passing along what I constantly am told, through various forms of whining how they would have won a title if the league didn't treat them so "unfairly" with the COVID situation.

NYCFC have exceeded all my expectations this season so whatever happens Sunday is okay with me but a win would make my playground conversations for the next year a bit less miserable.

I also wasn't that swayed by the HRB tweet when I saw it last night. Blake just won GK of the Year and their CBs finished 1 and 2 for best defenders. It's not just Union fans who rate them. It is true they were not as decimated as they make out, and Soup's point via Paul Harvey is good, but they were pretty well depleted.

There are a few guys in my office from Philadelphia who are Philly sports fans. Anytime this week one of them have asked me a question or spoken to me, my first response has been "Fuck the Union". This will last until Monday.
It’s all fun and games till the wrong person overhears that and a 32BJ SEIU rep comes knocking on your office door.

I assume the answer is "nah", but anyone interested in doing a forum watch party for this game?

Double posting from reddit since time is pretty urgent here:
Hi, so I snagged a ticket for Sunday in 133 on the resale market, but I've just realized it's in row P and might be too close to the field to be in the away section, does anyone know what the row cutoff is for our fans, or if there'll be enough people buying in the rest of 133 for it to feel like an away section anyway? Thanks!

So, how are we going to penetrate a very good Philly defense, especially since Héber needs service to score?

GP taking on wagner ALL DAY. that's gonna be a matchup to watch for sure.

but yea, the only way we're going to get through very good philly defense is exactly how attacks get through ours, quick passes and runs in behind. I think this is a game for Thiago and his mission will be to get in behind as much as possible or at least make their CBs very aware of that threat, giving santi and GP (and hopeflly maxi) more space to make magic happen with heber on the end of it
