MLS - November 7 - Philadelphia (Home)

Anyone with FiOS in Queens able to watch this? YES2 tells me to go watch the Nets game on YES, and it's blacked out on the YES App.

Why has this team been so self-sabotaging this season?

(I think with today's we're up to 8 reds, not 7)
Is it some mandate from Ronny to be aggressive? Do we just have a squad of hotheads?
It's so crazy to me.

I think the red today was pretty unfortunate and nothing to do with hot headedness. The way ai saw it was Zelalem lunged at the same time the Union player stretched out and happened to catch him on the ankle with the studs. Probably dumb but not malicious. I would like to take this time to say what an embarrassment Philly was with their injury theatrics. It was kind of disgusting. The six year old kid near me called out one in the second half where dude was acting like he lost use of his legs then got up and sprinted like Usain Bolt. I used to like Philly cause of their style of play (and grew up a Philly sports fan). Today may have eradicated any lingering Philly allegiance as far as having Union sympathies.

Just watched the highlights and that’s a red 100%. Unfortunate for him as I don’t think there was intent but definitely deserved. Also, Taty is a beast. Stepped up to DP levels this year.

Can I just say, it makes me happy that we fought down a man for more than half the game and didn’t seem to be down a man the whole time. Coming back and getting a goal was pretty amazing!
I agree. Team came out in the second half and bossed the start of it. It was a deserved goal. Also seemed like it was 3ATB in those moments then we went back to a back 4 until Gray came on. Also kinda seemed like the Union took their foot off the gas and were happy with a draw for a later part of the second half. Maybe that’s just because we out played them.

Also I wrote this in the chat before, but it needs to be repeated…

I went to buy food at halftime. The lady at the register mentions “you better give me a tip” to which I think to myself “that’s a bit aggressive, but alright…” so when she comes back with my chicken tendies I give her a dollar for a tip and try to hand her my card. She says “what’s that for? Get out of here it’s free” lmaoo lady didn’t give a fuckkk. It was amazing.

I hope you tipped her! :)

We moved the ball better with 10 men than with 11!

First half they played better. Then the red card happened and they scored and all of a sudden everything changed. Second half we came out guns blazing, and we could have won the game in a few instances. This is a freakin good team we have here, and they're hitting stride. Scoring a tying goal vs the team that had one less goal against than us on the season, while down a man, counts as a win in my books!

By the way before anyone complains about the "offside philly goal", here's a better look I just made. I took the 6 yard box line and moved it. Should be a good indicator...

The line i put is thick, in front of Kasper, and still behind the ball. He's very much onside.

It was a bit of a nondescript game until Gedion’s red card. NYCFC then lost their mind and gave up that easy goal to Philadelphia and there were stretches in the first half where NYCFC couldn’t even get the ball from the Union. It looked like the game (and subsequently the season) may have been lost on that red card.

and then…they completely outplayed the Union in the second half. I think at one point late in the second half the Union still just had that one shot on goal (their goal) while NYCFC forced several tough saves from Blake. To be down to 10 and come out like that says a lot.

While it stinks to not get second/third and have a more difficult playoff road, it could have been much worse and you have to give the team props for fighting back down a goal and down a man to get the point.

oh and watching Taty get the golden boot was insane (and I had no idea in the stadium that Kamara scored two so Taty needed it to win). What a powerful header.

yeah i didn’t think it was off from seeing it in real time from in the stadium. Not sure why there was that much protest, maybe because they had lost their minds already with the red card.

That was awesome. Taty's goal celebration going into the crowd was so cool, and he was crying after the game when Sean called out his Golden Boot. Incredible.

Obviously anything can happen in the playoffs, and if we're lucky enough to beat Atlanta we have to go to New England, but this is going to be a tough team to knock out in the playoffs.

Ronny said these were the worst referees ever. Agreed.

Chris Penso is a more experienced referee but he was the VAR. He should have been the main referee. Never has Guido (the referee) refereed a NYCFC game and never really seen him on TV for a MLS game.

The ref was lost tonight, but that was a red card for me. It wasn't purposeful, and in the pre-VAR days it's probably not a red card, but it's studs over the ball onto a player's leg. In the VAR era, that's a red card.
