New Food & Beer Options at Yankee Stadium

On game day,I like to make it special. I forget dieting and splurge on food. I agree about the food being mediocre at YS. Its edible enough to calm down hunger but so far, I have not eaten anything that makes my mouth water, that I can't wait to want to go back for seconds at YS .
The Best food I eaten is at Hard rock Cafe and and a bar on River Avenue that sells delicious empanadas. (sorry, can't remember the bar's name)

I am totally with you. I just want that splurge to be worth it - for the burger and fries to be good quality. Like you said, that doesn't exist at Yankee Stadium.

So here is a question. What pre-game spot, if any, would be appropriate for bringing a couple of little kids (age 5-8)?
Yankee Tavern has a separate dining area in the back with tables, even has a door on Gerard Ave side so the kids don't have to run the gauntlet of the bar. I've seen plenty of families eating there

Great to know is family oriented and kiddie friendly. Its on my plan to stop at Yankee Tavern this Sunday.

I had not suggested Hard Rock Cafe, because the music is loud, however I have taken my 5 year old nephew to Hard Rock Cafe and he loves it( of course because auntie has to bribe him with desert for him to eat something. lol ) They do have several selections that may appeal to 8 year olds. Portions are generous. Another fun thing they may like : NYCFC provides free face painting / temporary tatoo's / blue orange hair painting at Gate 2.
When I have time, I get my face painted too. I get on line at 15 minutes before opening and I am usually the first on line. Have fun with the kiddies. They will always remember those moments with fondness when they become adults.

Agree with TabascoDiva that the HRC is a suitable option. It's kid friendly and you are already in the stadium which is convenient once you are done, you don't have to worry about whether lines have accumulated etc.

This toughens them up.

i don't disagree. My dad was a bartender so i grew up in pubs. But not everyone agrees

My dad would had agreed with you and your dad.
:)For the big holidays, Xmas, New Years's and Thanksgiving my dad would buy a huge jug of Gallo wine for his girls (4 daughters and mom) and he would drink his Johnny Walker Black Label with my 2 brothers. He believed that it was best for his children to have a drink at family holidays under his supervision. This way we had no curiosity. or hangs ups about alcohol. We have turned out to be responsibly social drinkers

Really unhappy that YS didn't open the Grilled Cheese/Short Rib stand at the top of 228 last night.... I get it that maybe there wasn't a critical mass of fans last night, but I bet staffing a hot food cart would've brought in more money than the Dipping Dot cart(s) on a chilly/breezy night.

First time I've seen a hot chocolate vendor in the supporter's section. Respect that hustle.

It was $10 though, right? That better be a damn good hot chocolate considering its hot water and powder.
