Just stumbled across this. Is this a common occurrence in MLS? Are players not intellectual property of the MLS or of the club they are contracted to?

It can vary depending on the CBA, but generally players own their name and likeness but the team and/or league own rights to team name and uniform. That's why his merch doesn't show uniform or NYCFC.

I actually really like it but would want it to be all navy. No sky blue bill, no white stripe, no background field under the text, no sky blue vent holes, etc. If it was just the words and the badge on dark blue would've been great.
