So Villa has been giving tips to the forwards? A little career shadowing?

I will admit that I don't know much about this tournament, but it appears we are not playing at the top level of the U17 tourney since we are in the Premier division and not the Championship?

But also, maybe I am missing something, but the qualifying rules listed seem to not add up. It states the following:

"Teams are divided into three regions and participate in two qualifying events per region. The top two teams in each region after both qualifying events will participate against other international sides for the Championship Division title, while the remaining teams will play for the consolation Premier Division title."

I read that and shouldn't it mean that there would be 6 MLS teams in the Championship division? I am counting 8. And in case it means only US teams, there are 7 US MLS teams in that division (Toronto as the lone Canadian MLS team).

We took third in our group and got "relegated" to the consolation bracket. Still get to play foreign teams from Mexico and Costa Rica, so it's at least not simply an all MLS affair.

Thats what I was saying. The previous post seemed to indicate that we were in the "top" competition but we are not.

I wish we had stats on Gio. Based on the highlights we see of him it seems like he scores 75% of the academy team's goals. Depending on how many games they play, it wouldn't surprise me if he was scoring 50 goals a season.

I don't think Gio has been playing all of his games with the team currently playing. And he has had a lot more USMNT call ups.

10 goals in 15 games vs 7 goals in 14. That's apples to apples.

Although Flores is a full 2 years older.

We seem to "know" a lot about this squad, but is there any info on the next squad down and whether they have any players that've started to show their potential? I feel like we heard a lot about Gio, Flores, and Benalcazar, etc the first two years.

Not sure what kind of affiliation they have with DV7 (villas training) but his DV7 account retweets them a lot.
They do score some amazing goals tho. Those are the kids that would eventually be funneling into our academy system.

Not sure if this was talked about anywhere else, but we beat Pumas U16s 1-0 today off of a sick header. 3 goals for, 0 against, 2 wins, 1 win on PKs, and we will make our way to the Semis in our "Premier Division"
